BEST WESTERN Arken Hotel & Art Garden Spa

The hotel is located in the middle of an "industrial center." Upon arrival, we already had the feeling that we were a nuisance to the two gossiping ladies at the lobby. When asked if someone could help us with the luggage, we were turned away with a "there is a luggage cart back there anyway." We clearly disturbed you. We were told NOTHING about the hotel and what it offers. We then had to ask about everything later, and because that is tedious, we hardly used anything. Because no one told us that you have to specifically request it if you want a cleaned room, our rooms were not cleaned on day one. So, after an exhausting day of sightseeing, I followed up and had to wait in the lobby until I could finally get into the room. I stated that we want cleaning EVERY DAY. The next day, the same thing happened. The rooms were not made up. By now, we would have expected more than just a verbal apology from the hotel. But all we got was a "Thanks for telling us that this isn't working!"..... The rooms are so small that the two of us cannot comfortably spend time in them, except for sleeping. The furnishings are showing their age. I am very dissatisfied and cannot and will not recommend the hotel. A bad choice.

friendly staff with good service, good environment overall. The thing that was not positive is the environment in the rooms, we booked a room that we got when we arrived, the room smelled incredibly much which meant that we could not stay, we got another room (worse with less bed and space) but the experience was not better, even that room smelled but unfortunately there were no rooms so there were no other solutions .. In addition, there was no extra toilet paper in the room or bathrobes or slippers when going down to the spa. There was also no juice at breakfast when there was only water running out of the juice machine…

Quite OK facility overall, very cozy atmosphere and so on. The breakfast was perfect for those who eat normal food without asterisks. The single rooms may be a little small and nothing that stands out in either good or bad directions. The country just right. However, the ventilation in the rooms apparently absorbs trace elements from nearby oil refineries and sewage treatment plants in the harbor, which means that the experience turns into some kind of overnight stay in gas chambers with organic hydrocarbons and sulfur. The air outside is of course even worse so airing windows hardly helps. The hotel is advised to invest in some kind of filtration system to avoid risking gassing to death its sleeping guests.
