Scandic Rubinen Goteborg

This is a great hotel in the heart of Göteborg, and perfect if you want to explore the city or visit the popular attractions of Liseberg and Universum. The hotel is good value for money and the room was presented well. I particularly liked the facilities to make your own tea and coffee. On arrival the staff were friendly and welcoming. An extra member of staff was available to help with the storage which was a nice touch. This gentlemen was v friendly. Breakfast was good and offered the usual Swedish hotel breakfast options. The outer bar terrace space was comfortable. One tip is that when you arrive at breakfast, there are two buffet areas. Take the one on the right close to the windows as you walk out of the lifts, as this side had more and better options. Also, they recommend avoiding times 09:00-11:00 as they are the busiest. From what we saw, it was actually quieter at this time and you may want to avoid between 08:00-09:00 when the majority of small kids are eating (it was chaos when we arrived at 09:00 but quickly emptied so we had a peaceful breakfast without screaming unsupervised kids running around in the end) Overall this is a good Scandic hotel and I would recommend it for your visit to Gothenburg.

Don't stay here with kids!! There are many other better hotels in GBG. We can start with the pricing: you pay an awful lot for the room, then not get what you expect - clean room and a good night's sleep. They have a rooftop bar that they prioritize over their sleeping paying guests, which thunders on until late at night (01:00-02:00) even on weekdays! It was terrible to stay here with children, no one was allowed to sleep and it was unhygienic (dusty room, dirty toilet, trash in the corridors left behind by previous guests). The elevators are undersized so you have to set aside at least 10 minutes to get down with a stroller. The only thing that was good was the breakfast host, which was nice. However, I think it is remarkable that you have party music on late into the night, and then awfully loud music even for breakfast. No peace and quiet at this hotel. Really do not recommend families with children to stay here. They also did not have a bed for the child although we booked a so-called family room for three, but referred to that you could pull out the sofa and sleep in it. Terrible stay.

Very happy with our stay July 20-21. Large and spacious family room with comfortable beds. Very friendly staff. The breakfast was good and very child friendly, our little one got a toy and there was a nice play area with. A little negative with great crowds at the elevators at check out. For those of us who had a pram, the stairs were not an option.
