The hotel is located at the pedestrianised end of Niederdorfstrasse close to the banks of Limmat River and within walking distance to the main train station. The entrance is wedged in between Pizza place and a café.
The lobby is rather basic and crowded with just one settee opposite the desk. Reception is open only till 10pm and to access the hotel after that time you need your room key.
Our Queen Double Room was on the third floor, overlooking the wall opposite. The room was of standard size, with open wardrobes so fashionable with budget-end hotels. Bed was not particularly comfortable. Lighting was quite poor overall.
There was a coffee-machine only. Bottled water was provided in the fridge.
Good WiFi signals and selection of channels on TV.
The bathroom was very tight – the shower partitioning was constantly in the way.
Breakfast, on the second floor, was below average with limited selections.
Scrambled eggs were inedible.
Considering the prices in this expensive city, the hotel offered a reasonable value for money as a base for the exploration of Zurich.
