Walzenhausen Swiss Q Hotel

I understand that the view from the dining room is stunning but I only ever manage to stay here when it's foggy! Most rooms have a balcony. The rooms in the older part of the building are more up to date than in the newer part but they are all warm and comfortable. Very helpful and friendly staff. The wifi is a bit cranky with different areas but does work.

Located about 20 minutes from the Bodensee and St. Gallen the hotel is a bit difficult to reach but worth the trouble. The ride up the mountain through small villages was interesting and simple with a GPS. The staff was extremely helpful and the facilities are modern and well maintained. Fast WiFi and a good choice of international TV stations are always a pleasant surprise when traveling. We also took a short ride to Liechtenstien which took less than 30 minutes. It's a bit remote, but sometimes being out of the city with lots of free parking and cow bells ringing is just what we need. And the views of the lake are breathtaking.

The standard of the hotel has declined considerably over the past 8-10 years. The bed rooms are dated and worn. The shower with dark brown mosaic tiles dates back to the late 60's early 70's. The beds are small and mattresses thin. The carpet was badly stained, wall paper and surfaces really show their years. The only positive thing was the tea making facility in the room. The mini bar drinks were not replenished. Swimming pool and wellness area is good. The restaurant food is very average, this use to be a really good restaurant. Badly cooked steaks, watery vegetables, very poor wine list. The internet wireless charges are outrageously expensive. If this hotel wants to survive it needs new management, a new cook and some serious renovation and the receptionist is unhealthily thin. A finally, it's poor value for money
