Hotel Hirschen

We loved this hotel from arrival. The reception staff were so welcoming which was lovely. Our 4th floor room looked onto the main street and had a small balcony. We were advised that there was a street party planned on our second night and that there would be more noise than usual. In the event, our location was great for this as we were right in the hub of things which led us to have a great evening. Very much enjoyed our stay here and loved Grindelwald as a place to stay.

Comfortable bed and spacious, clean bedroom with an outstanding view of the Eiger and the meadows around Grindelwald. Very friendly and helpful staff. Server in the dining room for breakfast was most welcoming. Our only negative was that the shower was in the tub and was difficult to get in and out of without the risk of slipping. Probably not a problem for non seniors guests.

Five nights in July 2024. Personal travel. Love double room upstairs. The front feels good. Large balcony. No refrigerator. Slippers available. More hangers. The bathtub is large and the hot water drains quickly. There is no electric kettle, but there is a water heater next to the front desk that produces almost 100 degrees hot water, so I could eat alpha rice and cup noodles. Before I went, I asked if I could see Iger, and the answer was yes, but I could barely see the summit from the second floor because of the Hotel Spinne in front of me. (You can see the mountain next to me.) Breakfast is the same daily selection. The only egg dish is boiled eggs. Japanese groups seemed to have a special menu. It's probably not this hotel's fault, but when I opened the window, some flies came in. Lunch only once at the restaurant on the ground floor. I ate Forestière Gratinée and Knoblauch Gratinée. It tastes like a thin crispy pizza, and even small-eaters can finish it lightly.
