Hotel Kirchbuehl

Everything about this absolutely gorgeous place is great, excellent staff, perfect location. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Will definitely stay with them when I visit Grindelwald in future.

My husband and I spent 3 nights here a few days ago. The good, bad and ugly, here we go. The good is actually unbelievably good. The view of the Eiger and surrounding alps is amazingly beautiful. Our balcony looked out over the gorgeous valley, dotted with charming mountain chalets, the church with the bells tolling and then the alps. The staff at the desk were kind, welcoming and helpful. Now for the bad. The servers in the restaurant were so rude and at one point even yelled at us. The morning we arrived, I sent my husband down for coffee at 6:45. Now, after having done a study abroad in Lucerne during college, I recognize that Switzerland is rules based. The rules make things run smoothly, and I acknowledge and appreciate that. The woman my husband requested this from however, was not amused that his request was 10 minutes prior to the restaurant opening for breakfast. Perhaps having a coffee station near the lobby for those jet lagged guests who are not yet acclimated to the new time, or just tired early morning people, would be a nice addition. Then, when I asked our last night if we could sit in a certain dining room, she raised her voice to me and said that we had half/board which included breakfast and not dinner, or something like that. On their behalf, it did seem like they were always rushing somewhere, so perhaps they are understaffed. This is high season however, so if that is the case, they need more help. Years ago, we had the pleasure of staying at The Riffelalp in Zermatt and I complemented them on their customer service. I always thought that Switzerland excelled in this regard, but apparently this establishment did not get this memo. It is a shame because the food was good, the views amazing and the hikes we went on were extraordinary. Hoping that they address this issue for future guests

After paying $1,000 per night, my family and I expected a high-quality experience and a welcoming environment. Instead, we were met with rude staff, poor customer service, and an overall disappointing atmosphere. The dining area was infested with flies, making every meal uncomfortable. When we politely asked to be seated in a different area, our request was refused, even though we had to eat there for three consecutive nights. For the amount we paid, this level of service was completely unacceptable. The staff showed no concern for guest comfort, and their attitude made the experience even worse. This was one of the most disappointing hotel stays we’ve ever had, and I would not recommend it.
