Hotel Tourist

After a long day of mishaps, a lunch at 17:00 and a very late arrival at Hotel Tourist - all because of a coach company that were not committed to delivering the service they were contracted to do - we arrived at Hotel Tourist with our group of 50+ pax and were treated like family! The check in process ran smoothly. Yes, this wooden chalet hotel might be too traditional for some guests, but we found it oozing charm. The rooms were spotless and functional. Many of the rooms have the best view one could ask for: the mirror surface of Lake Lucerne and the most beautiful mountains as a backdrop. I must say our group LOVED it! Our dinner and breakfast was great - especially considering that the staff had to wait for our group to arrive, because of our coach breakdowns. They were friendly, patient and accommodating in every way. Sonya went out of her way to help us with directions to our next destination - thanks for the Swiss map - and sent our 46 teenagers and their chaperons off with a traditional cake of this area each! What a wonderful idea... Thanks so much Peter and Sonya for making our brief transit time through Switzerland so special. We will most definitely return to the Hotel Tourist in future.

The building is very old, hasn't had many upgrades, but has been well maintained. The rooms are small and the bathrooms even smaller. The staff has been helpful and friendly. But Wow! You can't beat the view! So overall a good value room for the price, considering this is Lake Lucern.

We stayed here for 3 nights as a short getaway. There is no fuss with the hotel Tourist, which is just what we wanted. Ample parking, friendly owners who, without fussing over you, are able to provide answers to every question on request. Don't be expecting a massive room, but if you can, request a room with a view of the lake in your booking, (or better, do it in German - Ein zimmer mit Seeblick wenn möglich bitte!). The view is simply stunning. They are happy to speak English if you ask, but respond in German if you try, which again, we like. The restaurant serves decent, hearty food, with the local specialty, roast chicken in a basket.
