Saint Gervais

I stayed here last week. I'm a frequent traveller. I've never stayed somewhere so awful. On arrival I couldn't get I to the building. I was wondering about the streets for hours. The reception is only open 7-3. I checked booking.com and found a code to access the building along with my room number. The corridors stunk of sweat and the bathrooms were extremely dirty. The bed had a shelf behind it so I could not sit up! I also didn't feel safe here as a solo traveller. However, the building was in a good location near central station.

I was told there would be no one working the front desk when I arrived, and that the the room would be ready and unlocked waiting for me. After getting into the hotel using their secure number pad, I discovered that the bedroom I had been assigned was locked. I tried opening the door several times, but could not get in. I tried contacting the hotel staff via phone and messaging app, with no response. Other things: - There were quite a few people hanging around the lobby even late at night. Literally any of them could have access to the room if it was unlocked. - I found another person in the lobby who was having the same problem I did. I ended up having to walk around in the middle of the night to find another hotel. When I contacted Hotel St. Gervais the next day, I was told that the whole thing was my fault for "not following the instructions". Hotel St. Gervais counted me as a no show and refused to refund me for the stay. Bottom Line: Terrible check-in process - totally unstaffed and unsecure. No accountability. Poor customer service.

Great location at the center of Geneva. Mall and supermarkets are within walking distance. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Bed does not seem like a double. The room is clean. Breakfast included in our stay and bus pass is provided. Overall, I think this place is good at the price we paid for (99chf). Would probably recommend this if you're spending a night or two at Geneva.
