Rigi First

We had an excellent lunch at Hotel Rigi First at surprisingly moderate prices. The hotel was very accommodating and allowed us to swap from the fondue lunch that had been booked to instead choose from the menu. The menu had a good range that accommodated my family’s wide/ranging preferences. The food was high quality and of a good size. We had to wait a while for the food but not unreasonably long. Very pleased with the food and service.

When hiking on the Rigi on the weekend we stumbled upon this restaurant (that is also a hotel) and we decided to stop here for lunch. My husband and I really enjoyed the Gerstensuppe - it was delicious. The kids were not adventurous and stuck to the typical sausage and chips. The setting is very authentic and Swiss and the staff all extremely friendly even when the restaurant was busy.

We stayed only one night. The room was clean, comfortable and bright. Wifi was good, location was fantastic, but involved a perhaps a 15min walk from the train, in the snow...which was wonderful! Heavy luggage would require a sleigh taxi however. The staff were friendly, and welcoming despite arriving early, they had our room ready. Food in the restaurant was also good that night. The only downside was the lack of fresh fruit at breakfast. It's an ideal hotel for hiking, and skiing, and is family and dog friendly. We throughly enjoyed our stay, and would recommend.
