Hotel Flora Alpina

We had booked a room with a park view and looked at a wall from a chest-high window, and further to the right you could see a piece of the park in the distance. The room did not correspond in any way to the picture on the internet, but was more of a storage closet. Without a picture on the wall, extremely simply furnished for $235 a night. We were very angry and made this clear. Although a room was available, we were not offered a change, only with an extra charge of $100. Our experience was therefore extremely negative and very annoying.

bad team, no understanding, cleanliness lacking

It is a beautiful view, but so many nicer places near Vitznau. I am part German, although not a common speaker. IF YOU DON’T SPEAK GERMAN OR ARE NOT SWISS, you may roll the dice on being served. My husband and I reserved a table in advance via email and wax accepted for 7pm for our 15th wedding anniversary and for the eclipse. When we arrived 1/2 hr early we were only offered a table in full sun with blazing heat. We asked to wait for our reservation, which the floor supervisor met with immediate contempt and said would not be possible, Though she said they would keep our reservation. She would not guarantee a table. We opted to have a drink on the lower deck in hope of some shade as it was too hot. My husband got nervous that we would not have a table. So, he went up at 7 and asked for us to be seated, which we were in sun. IT TOOK 20 MINUTES FOR OUR ORDER, 30 MORE MINUTES FOR OUR FIRST DRINK, 2.25 HOURS AND AFTER REPEATED REQUESTS FOR FOOD AND DRINK WE LEFT. 130 CHF for soup, salad, drinks… (mostly drinks as they had just served the palate cleanser at the 2.25 hrs in. I was so disgusted with everyone leaving who arrived after us that I couldn’t even eat it.. I DID NOT GO TO DRINK. I WENTFOR A RESERVED ANNIVERSARY DINNER on our last night in Vitznau. WE WENT HOME HUNGRY too late for service. THEY WERE UNAPOLOGETIC. It feels like the manager was the issue the waiters would eagerly serve everyone around us, look at our table guiltily, and then walk away. Our only fault was not being fluent or Swiss. Such a shame for such a lovely location. It just isn’t worth it.
