WELCOME

A basic but clean hotel very conveniently situated within walking distance of the train station. Parking is available at a cost, and as this is the closest that you can drive to Zermatt there is plenty of parking available, if the hotel's is full. The rooms are clean but basic and all have a terrace. There was small kitchenette however, no equipment was provided except for glasses and mugs. The buffet breakfast was simple, and as this hotel does not have a restaurant we ate at it's sister hotel, Tascherhof, and the meal there was very nice. I wouldn't not stay here again, but would perhaps try the Taschehof in preference.

We (a big group) arrived at the hotel on a rainy Sunday evening (July 13) while there was some light out. No one at the reception. Based on reservation details and some message left by an employee, we managed to find our rooms. Office is in one building and just a short distance across (have to go outside) is the building with the rooms. Rooms have a small stove and some shelves (good for slightly long-term stays). Bathroom, TV, beds. Doors of all rooms on a floor open onto the same balcony. Beautiful view of the mountains. Rains brought a fine mist...breathtakingly beautiful. No wi-fi because they switched it off when they left for their weekends though we had a reservation! Breakfast was basic but filling. Overall...a very nice location, comfortable, but a bit cold in terms of their "hospitality."

We reserved a room at this hotel for a night in July, 2019. On the way from Interlaken, we got stuck in a severe traffic jam at Lotschberg Tunnel, Kandersteg. However, the last check in time at this hotel is 8;30 PM, and as a result of the traffic congestion, we could not reach in time. We informed the hotel management about this, and he told us with a rude voice to stay at some other place, although he charged us full for that night. We somehow managed to book another hotel that night, obviously with higher price. Later we called the management again about this whole inconvenience, and he refused to compensate any amount. With the given inconvenient check in time (8:30 PM and not later), and the rude management, we suggest fellow travelers to avoid this hotel. Thank you!
