Have to say this was a wildcard. For 10 years we stayed at the same hotel in Zermatt, was always our “home,” however when an offer comes up at 180chf less for 2 nights we decided to wildcard it - did not regret at all. Room 304 was superb, bed super comfy. Rooms amenities included a bathrobe, slippers, a water cartel, with offerings of tea bags and instant (good) coffee. Breakfast selection was plentiful, my only thing - better coffee would be appreciated, was a bit too thin taste wise. Still 5 stars and now seems we have moved to a new “home.”

Hotel Astoria is a beautifully preserved gem that truly captures the essence of a traditional mountain village stay. The architecture and interiors have been aesthetically maintained, giving you an authentic Swiss alpine experience that feels both nostalgic and heartwarming. While the hotel isn’t overly extravagant, the rooms are cosy, comfortable, and well-equipped, making it a great choice for travelers seeking peaceful rest after a day of exploring Zermatt. An added perk is the Sauna and Spa facilities, which provide a much-needed dose of relaxation amid the cold mountain air. The hospitality of the staff was exceptional. I would especially like to express my gratitude to Ms. Andria, whose warmth and helpfulness truly stood out. She not only made us feel welcome but also went above and beyond to help us plan our day in Zermatt with practical tips and recommendations. If you’re looking for a comfortable and affordable stay in Zermatt, Hotel Astoria is a fantastic option that blends simplicity with sincerity. Highly recommended for solo travelers, couples, and families alike. Room Tip: Choose a room with a balcony if you’d like to enjoy morning views of the mountains.

Hotel Review We booked this hotel last minute, eager to leave our previous accommodations, and it turned out to be a mixed experience. The hotel is quite small and has an old-world charm to it. The wooden floors in the rooms were clean and added a nice touch. The receptionist and the staff were very nice, welcoming us warmly and making our stay more enjoyable. However, the furniture was quite dated, which some might find charming, but it did feel a bit worn. The bathroom, unfortunately, could really use some refurbishment to bring it up to modern standards. Overall, while the hotel had its quaint aspects and the staff were lovely, a few updates could enhance the overall experience. If you're looking for a cozy, no-frills place to stay, this could be a decent option!
