Every hotel has its flaws, but not every hotel has truly exceptional staff. From the moment we were greeted at the train platform, and throughout our entire three-night stay, we were treated with extra special attention by everyone who worked there. Whatever we needed, we were served with a smile — quickly and politely, every single time. The hotel itself is well-decorated with a classic, traditional feel. The rooms could use a bit of updating, and there's no air conditioning, which was a challenge during the July heat. That said, I imagine it's rarely an issue outside of peak summer. The spa downstairs was a real highlight. The pool offered many ways to rejuvenate, and the cold plunge, steam room, and sauna were all top notch — both in atmosphere and overall feel. Overall, the warmth and attentiveness of the staff, combined with the excellent spa facilities, made this a memorable stay, and we'd happily return.

We were so so happy with the National. We stayed for over a week and weren't sure what to expect of a "4 star" hotel. We needn't have worried. Our Family room had a fab Matterhorn view - the mezzanine area worked fine for our kids though had low beams to negotiate. We received very warm service especially at the front desk. Pools were great too. It's opposite one of the ski lifts and walking distance to the shops and restaurants. I looked fwd to sitting in the lounge of the hotel with my book after a day of skiing. Thanks for a lovely stay.

This is our third time at Hotel National - each time one week for the ski vacation. We come here with our family - two children that are now 14 and 15. The hotel has yet to disappoint. First the location cannot be beat - across the street from the Sunnegga station and a few minutes walk to the middle of town. The rooms have all been great. We first stayed in a large family room - great space and view of the Matterhorn. Now that the kids are older we have two double rooms (one deluxe and one standard) that are connecting. It is perfect for our family. The ski room is well designed with heated and ventilated lockers. We had good service at the bar and the dining staff are really super. It is nice to see the same people are there year over year which means they must treat their staff well. The host, a young French man, is so friendly, funny and very attentive. Front desk staff were also always good. We had half-pension and we enjoyed every dinner, some more than others (a matter of taste) but all well prepared and presented. Breakfast buffet is also good with very good coffee (made to order). We love this place and have already booked again for next year.
