Sunnyside Hotel

It’s a good hotel to stay for a couple of days. Cramped conditions in room mean you don’t want to spend too much time there but just use the hotel to base yourself from. It’s convenient that the night market is downstairs and close to exit 11 of the Formosa boulevard station. Exit 3 has the lifts and escalators to get there. Position is it’s best asset as walking distance to the river and surrounding areas. They give you water and some amenities provided as you ask. English is not their strong point but the supervisor can speak English well. It was a nice stay but I’d try another hotel if pricing permitted. SunnySide is one of the more cheaper ones. We couldn’t use the balcony as a family as we just weren’t around enough to do so. The interchange from Xin Zuoying HSR to MRT is tedious and whilst and interchange is not as slick as the TRA. Room could also have done with more power points and the hotel should turn on the fridge ahead of people arriving.

Traditional hotel with “key” (not card key) in the nightmarket. Convenient location for tourist that want experience and enjoy the local food culture. And because this hotel is the middle of the night market be prepared for some noise in the room.

Check in was easy and straightforward. The room was a bit dated but clean, same as the bathroom. Windows are double glazed so you don't really hear the noise from outside, except for the occasional vendor shouting. There is no kettle but they have provide jug to store your hot water from the dispenser outside. Staff are friendly and helpful, even though some can't speak English well but we got by with gestures. Downside was the bed. It was way too hard, there was no cushioning at all. Not sure whether it's just our room though. Another was no dryer in the hotel. They have a washing machine but no dryer. Which was difficult for us to dry our laundry around the room. However, after walking around the block, there is a laundromat nearby so I would recommend to go there instead. Because of the price, we expected a continental breakfast but it was a buffet spread. You can have full meal to start your day. Location was amazing. Liu He Night Market is right outside the hotel. There are other shops, mini marts, pharmacy, etc steps away. A great mochi shop, three doors down. Short distance to Formosa Boulevard Station. I recommend this hotel. :)
