Forward Hotel

I ma staying here for a one-week quarantine. Very large room, clean but a bit old. The internet is acceptable. The service is very good and staff very courteous. I like the view from my room and it’s sufficient bright in the room. The air-con is also pretty good

Pros Great location – just right in front of Xingpu MRT station. Room – large, comfortable and neat but very basic. Staff – friendly and helpful, had problem with the safe setting and Miss Chen came to help. Cons Main entrance – small sliding door and lobby not large. Room slipper feels like paper sandals but they changed after complaining to the housekeeper. Toiletries very basic. No concierge service to help carry luggage. I had booked 5 nights to stay in this hotel but on the first night, I had problem sleeping because the queen sized mattress was spring type and whenever my partner was moving about the bed during her sleep, the whole mattress was waving and affecting my sleep badly. The next day, I went to meet the front desk manager to explain on my sleep problem and that I want to check out to which he agreed which was kind of him as I have paid Agoda the full amount for 5 nights. So I was able to move to another hotel nearby with Agoda's help too.

Forward hotel is a budget hotel and the rooms are badly in need of refurbishment. Everything in the room appears at least 20 years old. The bathroom is in the same condition. The glasses (for drinking) in the room are scratched plastic that should have been replaced at least a decade ago. The breakfast for a Westerner is virtually non-existent. Very few staff speak English and those that do the language skills are very limited.
