Hotel Leisure Taichung

I booked Hotel Leisure Taichung through Agoda based on amenities clearly listed on their site: access to coffee and tea, a gym, and washer/dryer facilities. None of these were actually available at the hotel during my stay. When I brought this up to the front desk, they confirmed that those amenities are not offered. There was no apology, no attempt to make things right—just a shrug. I reported the issue to Agoda, but despite multiple attempts, I was stuck in a frustrating loop of automated replies and copy-paste messages. They refused to escalate my case or offer a fair resolution beyond a small AgodaCash refund. This experience left a very sour impression—not only with Agoda but with the hotel as well. If the hotel was aware their listing was inaccurate, it should’ve been corrected. And if not, they should’ve acknowledged the guest experience was impacted. I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it unless the hotel takes responsibility and Agoda enforces accuracy in its listings.

Plaza Hotel, Butler Hotel, etc. have changed their names and are difficult to understand without searching by address. The location is very good in front of Taichung Station. Conveniently located nearby. I came by bus, so it was about five minutes from the bus stop. It was a compact hotel, and I booked a normal room, but it seemed upgraded, the top floor room. However, WIFI really didn't get through. There was a refrigerator, bathtub, bath was spacious. I found the hand soap to be too far from the washroom to use and the washroom area was too narrow. There was only one PET bottle provided per day and no tea (tea bags) or other items. There is a water heater, so you can bring your own tea bag to drink. It was big enough to stay alone and didn't feel dirty. There were no bath towels and only two face towels, but from what the other people said, there were bath towels or only face towels depending on the room, and there were bath towels. I also recommend bringing your own slippers as they are not there. The hanger seemed to have been put on afterwards, and it was very hard to use, and that one had to be tall to be usable. Breakfast was included, and there weren't that many items, but it seemed like a good idea. There was some inconvenience, but considering the price and location, I think there will be another one.

My experience at this hotel was extremely frustrating. The booking document clearly stated a 3:00pm check-in time, but when I arrived, the staff at the counter informed me that check-in was only available between 3:00 and 3:30pm. I waited until 3:31pm and returned to the counter to check in, only for the staff member to tell me that the time was actually 2:29pm and that I still couldn't check in. Despite showing him the time on my phone, he continued to deny it. After a moment, another staff member, clearly uncomfortable with the situation, grabbed a room key from a box on the desk and gave it to me. So, the room was ready the whole time—why the unnecessary delay? The entire situation was very confusing and disappointing. The booking was made through Capital One Travel. I sent my complaint to Capital One, simply asking them to forward it to the hotel without requesting any compensation. To my surprise, Capital One was very considerate and offered me a full refund.
