Hotel Mi Casa

We chose to stay at Mi Casa, Taichung during December, as hotel rates at Taipei were exorbitant. The property is conveniently located, just a few yards away from Taichung railway station. We were first time travelers to Taiwan, with limited local knowledge (and language). The staff were super helpful & assisted us in the best possible manner. The room was compact, cozy & comfortable for 2 people. Our reservation came with buffet breakfast. We were vegans & the kitchen staff made sure we had vegan options for breakfast, before we hit the city. As the property is near the railway station, all of the touristy spots were well accessible via public transport. Overall a pleasant stay & we would love to visit them again.

Location: • About 1 min walk from taichung station exit 1A. Room: • We stay in room 609, nice small balcony overview the greeneries in front of hotel. • The room is small, enough for single or couple with 1 big luggage. Not recommended for family with kids, or if you have multiple big luggage, most likely you will need to use your bed as area to open your lugagge. • Bed is nicely firm, pillow and liner overall are comfortable. Bathroom: • Bathroom is clean, with adequate toileteries provided. Shower pressure is good. Facilities & other comments: • we check in around 10.30 pm, and reception is attended, check in was a breeze. • 1x coin laundry (20 NTD for each wash) and 1x dryer (10 NTD for 10 mins) available in level 7. • Breakfast is good considering for small hotel. Breakfast in dine in cafe next door, we need to select menu a day before from reception. Mostly western style breakfast (egg, bread, saussage, sandwich, and the like). • Tips: if you stay in this hotel, grab their business card. Will come in handy if you need to take taxi / uber to show the taxi driver. Overall: Value for money, reasonable price for the overall quality. Wouls recommend this hotel. Though if we visit taichung again, we most likely choose another hotel, not because of there is a fault in  hotel, but we would like to try stay in different neighbourhood. Taichung neighbourhood may not be our cup of tea, as it looks quite old area.

Location: Fantastic, just right at the doorstep of Taichung Railway Station (not HSR, that’s about 15mins away). Miyahara Icecream store a stone’s throw away to grab those IG shots with their sundaes and overpriced pineapple cakes to impress your colleagues/in-laws back home. A distance away from the famous Feng Jia Night Market but frankly there are others to explore nearby, without jostling with the University kids and other tourist crowds. Room: Room was small but able to fit a king sized bed, complete with comfortable pillows which offered a restful sleep. Bathroom has a huge tank to soak those tired legs/body. Best sleep I’ve had for my entire trip across Taiwan. Dining: MiCafe offered decent breakfast which you had to pre-select upon check-in. Staff serves warm homemade bread and American brew. Ordered a second serving of latte/cappuccino. No regrets as it uplifted is the whole day. Not suitable for big families and the management should consider scoping the theme. A boutique hotel for couples only would’ve been better, given the size, location and vibe of the establishment.
