OLAH Poshtel Taichung Station

Stay one night in a deluxe twin. Within 10 minutes on foot from Taichung Station. It was a very convenient hotel in the downtown area. It looks like a renovated hotel, but it doesn't feel old at all and has all the modern facilities. The room was small but well equipped. Amenities are available. It seems to be well managed with almost no flooding from the shower room to the washroom, which is common in renovation hotels. The bed was also neat and full of cleanliness. I feel very comfortable. The cafe on the ground floor is staffed almost entirely, and the design does not allow people to enter the accommodation space without a card key, so safety is not a problem. Unfortunately, I didn't use the cafe. Information in Japanese is always available at the front desk, and the front staff seem to be able to speak a little Japanese. I tried to get food that was particularly troublesome. There were many affordable places to eat around Taichung Station and the hotel, and Miyahara Ophthalmology was within walking distance. Even for sightseeing for gourmets, I was able to enjoy a casual stay where I could eat, rest and sightsee easily. Breakfast is well prepared for a quick bite, and you can replenish it often. It was seasoned to suit the Japanese tongue. I was able to stay very comfortably, so I wanted to stay here again next time.

Pros: good room size for 3, with 4 single beds in room. Enough space for luggage to open up and we feel comfortable in room. Cons: not convenient location, only few nearby food stalls, need taxi to get to points of interest. Unfriendly front office mostly Poor breakfast with little variety Supper is DIY style to cook your own instant noodle but also guests to clean up dishes/pots, and throw food trash. Doesn’t feel like a hotel but a hostel.

My husband and I were in Taichung and booked with the Olah Poshtel Wenxin for 6 nights. We LOVED it. The room was fairly quiet and well appointed. Mini fridge, safe, desk, easy chair. Some of the staff spoke English which was very helpful. The Front Desk is actually in the basement level. The basement also has a fantastic seating area for guests. There are banks of booths on the sides and then couches and sitting areas in the middle which is excellent if you want to wander down and have a glass of wine. We even ordered take out one evening from Uber Eats and ate it in this area. You can use the dining areas plates, cutlery etc. Coffee and hot drinks are available and free all day long and they have a Popcorn machine with snacks available every afternoon. In the evenings from 10 p.m. to midnight they offer free Ramen bowls. It was VERY popular. We called it 'Ramen Palooza'. :) Breakfast is included with your stay and they have a large area with both 'American' and 'Chinese' dishes available. The Hotel also has a roof top area where you can sit and visit and there's also a washer and dryer (coin operated) for guests which was super handy. We really enjoyed our stay here and I'd highly recommend it.
