The Lin Hotel

Pros: The location was convenient, very close to the National Taichung Theater. Our room was large, two sinks in the bathroom, marble/stone used to great advantage in our room as well as throughout the hotel. Lighting and bedding were better than in other hotels. The staff was very helpful throughout. Ivan, at the concierge desk, was especially helpful throughout our stay, going out of his way to help. Cons: There is a very large breakfast buffet with eggs made to order. Most other dishes were too oily so ultimately, there wasn't much I for me to choose from. There is no room service. There is a $46 (in USD) dinner buffet, and that's almost the only choice. There are 4 items that can be ordered at the bar. Otherwise, without room service or other dining options, it's the big buffet or nothing. We usually ordered pizza from the bar. A friend went across the street to 7-11 and bought ramen type noodles. There was a fridge in our room, but no microwave. Our friend heated water in the kettle (for tea water) for her noodles....It seems small, but there aren't towel bars in the bathroom. Where to hang a wet towel??... There are 4 elevators to serve about 300 rooms, so the wait was too long at busy times. The hotel's guests were almost all Asian. The dining room especially featured Asian cuisine. I felt like the hotel experience was largely a cultural one for me. There is an executive lounge, but it is only open Sat/Sun and small food items are available only until 5 pm! Other days the bar on the first floor offers small food items to exec patrons, but again, only until 5 pm for both food and alcohol. If I were to return to Taichung, I'd look for another hotel.

Fantastic stay at the Lin. My best experience in Taichung. Rooms are very spacious and offer outstandings views on the city.

Excellent hotel. Clean and well maintained. Very nice and professional staff. Hall great and very luxurious. Convenient underground parking. Huge and well equipped room. Very spacious bathroom. Stratospheric breakfast. Dinner buffet really varied and very good. Highly recommended
