Green World ZhongHua

TLDR: Green World Zhonghua in Taipei offers prime location near Ximen MRT but shows clear inconsistencies between its renovated lower floors and older upper levels. Prior to booking, I spent hours doing research (reviews and Facebook/YouTube reviews). Unfortunately, I wasn't aware that the reviews were ONLY focused on the newer floors; and the stock photos for the older floors were probably taken a long time ago! Room Quality: The original 12th-floor room displayed aging elements such as scuffed white walls, older gray curtains, and seems like moldy bathroom. Bathroom tiles appeared clean but dated with minor wear around edges. Post-upgrade on the 2nd floor, rooms align better with various positive YouTube reviews featuring sleeker designs and city views. ​ Common Areas: Hallways on upper floors highlights dirty beige carpet and dim lighting from few fixture. Laundry facilities suffer from ceiling water damage and stains. ​​ Internet connectivity: Unreliable throughout the stay, with frequent dropouts and weak signals even on the upgraded 2nd floor. Streaming services would suffer from constant buffering. Breakfast: Not great - opted to skip the hotel breakfast on most days. Again, the YouTube videos for breakfast looked great! Staff and Upgrades Despite the condition of the building and the old floors, the staff were friendly and especially helpful to get me an upgrade.

This is the mid budget hotel... when the occupancy is high the cost increases to double. As the hotel was sold out first 2 nights, so we booked the family room for 4 person and after 2 nights my 2 gals moved out to superior twin room no window room which they offered on same floor. Good point both were same size 23sqm so it was good size for twin room. Check in allowed only at 1500hrs on 13th floor and checkout at 1100hrs or else N$300.00 per hr for late check out (which we paid - only cash). They have storage area (without any cost) for your luggage incase u want to leave your luggage. No other facilities in the hotel. Just bed and breakfast. We didn't booked breakfast so can't comment anything. Family room is size of 23sqm- bed is big enough for 4 people (its 2 queen size) but the problem is other things- no space for luggage, only 4-5 hangers in the room, no hook or area in bathroom to hang towels. Its very tight for 4 people. 3 people still manageable. Cleaning was very basic it could have been better. Housekeeping was provided everyday but it was only - throw trash, replace the water bottle and coffee/tea, new towels and make bed. Beside that nothing... Family room are mostly on 2nd and 3rd floor. Superior twin room no window is inside in the middle of the floor. Rest of amenities were like family room. no mirror in both the rooms only available in bathroom. Only hand wash, shampoo and body wash were provided which we never used as we carry our own.. Very less voltage in the plugs - unable to use our own hair dryers. Location is good ..the ximending area is very min walk from the hotel. Sushiro ro and 7/11 Sanrio is next door. Hotel is combined with lets sleep as well ( few floors ). 2 elevators are available for use. For people coming with luggage through subway - for 1st timers can take exit 6 and walk to the hotel (cross the road ), exit 5 is close to the hotel but its all stairs. Personally, will suggest - from exit 5 (subway on lower level) keep walking straight to ximen metro mall it should be approx 400-500m look for gate no 5 which will be on right side it should be mentioned as zhongshan gate 5 and take elevator from gate no 5 and it will open next to the hotel on main road...1st time it will be confusing but once u know it- it will be easy in/out. Overall is ok !! Good point it's close to eatery and shopping. Lot of Asians like to stay in this hotel.

Management, please take note, its time for an internal review of your front desk staff. Horrible is the word i can use to describe them. 4 years back, i had a great stay, that is why i decided to choose the same hotel for my trip this time. HOWEVER, the staff this time round was, i would say, left me speechless, they were just the worst of the lot. 1) no intention to assist with just pushing one of the luggage to the luggage storage area, mind you , the front desk staff is a guy, all he did is to walk at the front and ask us to follow. 2) all staff were just not ready to work in this line, all the front desk staff gave the 'i don't give a damn kind of face' 3) After check in, i just went to the counter again to check if its possible for both room to be closer as my parents in law were elderly, staying too far apart may be difficult for them. The male staff gave me a sacarstic reply, saying we already gave you a upgrade to the same floor, one of the room you booked were so terribly small. Is that how you describe your own room type? Mind you the rude male staff, one of the room i booked was your most expensive room, watch your attitude. 4) After check in at the counter, i just went to the luggage storage space to open the belt area, to get my own luggages. Then whats the point of the freaking luggage tag you given? When anyone can just go and open to take any luggage. At the very least, follow the guest and allow them to take only those luggage that belong to them? First day operating the hotel?? 5) the toilet in the room smell horrible, most likely the drainage, but the staff did nothing to help. I must say, this hotel, is a NO GO. Unless they change all the front desk staff, else, never go to this hotel. To all the male staff at the counter, you all should change job cause clearly, you are not suited in the service line. Disappointed in this tremendous drop in service standard from Green World Hotel Zhonghua. 10-14 October 2023 stay
