Aurum The River Place

The service is top-notch, always available to assist us. They served us breakfast by the river, a unique experience! It is a quiet place with a supermarket and other services nearby. You can walk to the Royal Palace and other temples.

The hotel is value for money. It is walking distance to the Grand Palace and Wat Phon temple, Wat Arun is a boat crossing away! The hotel is clean, and basic toiletries are provided. The staff are helpful, and a few of them are even friendly. The coffee shop across the hotel, Vivi Cafe, has good coffee and a perfect place to watch the day (and boats) go by. This is also where breakfast is served.

First trip to Thailand. We wanted to spend the first two nights visiting famous tourist spots, and we chose this one because we realized that the large Bangkok area takes a lot of time to get around the city. (That said, Grab is recommended instead of walking to the Royal Palace. It's hard to walk to and from there, because you have to walk endlessly in the hot weather even after you get there.) This time, we booked the partial river view directly and received a generous price, which was on the second floor, but across the river we had a room with a view of Wichai Prasit Fort and the illuminated Wat Karayanamit, not Wat Arun. I thought that this was enough to see, so I used it as it is. It's been a while since I've had a hotel with a bathrobe! That's how classy and equipped they are. The bed was comfortable and the shower was comfortable with hot water. The fridge doubles as a minibar, but you can take your own purchases in and out (not automatically charged). There are about 600ml (?) of water in glass bottles placed in the room every day for free. I think they will replenish more if you request it. It is small, but the fact that there is a table and chairs on the balcony, and you can relax while watching boats come and go on the river, was also a personal point. Breakfast, the highlight of your stay here, is served from 7:00 to 9:30 at Café ViVi The Coffee Place across the street. Choose between Thai, Continental or Sandwich dishes by the day before. Fruits and coffee arrive first, and you can enjoy toast, cereal and yogurt at will. The soup and stir-fry and rice that arrived afterwards were delicious. The first bite of tom yam soup in particular had a wonderful aroma of freshly flavored vegetables and I was thrilled to see that it had an authentic Thai flavor! The Butterfly Pea lemonade was refreshing and delicious, too. By the way, I chose Thai food on both days, but I couldn't get enough of chicken in the soup replacing shrimp and chicken replacing black pepper pork in the stir-fry. There are three to four seats facing each other to view Wat Arun. It's not a big hotel, so there's a good chance you'll get a good seat, but the aim is to have a special seat at around 8:20, once the crowd is low. It was a café where you could enjoy the resort feel with cute geckos occasionally popping out. (By the way, there were a few small ants in the vicinity of the snack in my room. This is also unique to tropical resorts, but please be careful if you can't tolerate it.) When the next day's activities we had booked suddenly changed and we had to contact the organizers to make other arrangements, they called us in Thai, which was very helpful. Please be careful when using Grab to get from the airport to here. There is a problem with the Grab map, and if you select "Aurum The River Place", it will take you to a completely different place. This time, I was glad I noticed it along the way, but the driver didn't understand English, it was complicated by the change operation, and the detour cost extra, which was very difficult.
