GM Suites

There was always hair in the bathroom. All-ways. Stained ol’ bathtub… Reception always smelt strange. Nasty doorman - don’t know if he disliked black people or people in general. There are places nearby that are waaay cleaner and cheerful.

Negatives: cockroaches, dirty, smelly, inattentive staff, housekeeping not keeping up, breakfast was lacking Positives: great bed and interesting part of Bangkok. Good restaurants nearby. I'll start with the positives -- great bed. The bed was soft and I slept very well. It was better than most beds we slept in during our trip in Southeast Asia. I also like the area, in a predominately Arab, India, and Bangali area of Bangkok that's very different than other parts of the city. Great food. Bumrungrad Hospital is 5 minutes walk from the hotel. As for the negatives, the management is not managing the hotel. The reception barely looked up when I walked into the lobby. The security guards were always friendly, on the other hand. The reception often had earbuds in their ears looking at something on the computer. They weren't unfriendly, but just not outgoing, welcoming, or even aware of what was going on. When we checked into our rooms, there were only two towels for the four of us. The neighboring room had three bags of garbage in the hallway which sat their all night long. The room had the smell of someone who had recently cooked in it as did the hallways. It wasn't pleasant and did not feel clean. There were two cockroaches immediately in the entryway to our room. It's no wonder when people are cooking in the hotel and leaving garbage around, there are lots of cockroaches. I killed several in the entryway, kitchen, and bathroom, but you know there are thousands more of them. Disgusting. Housekeeping is not thorough as evidensed by the room that wasn't thoroughly prepared for our arrival and a candybar in the minibar that had been eaten but not accounted for. The breakfast was a disappointment. We ate it most mornings because it's easier than looking for something else and the kids were happy with cereal. The two staff members were quite melancholy. There was little variety: overcooked hardboiled eggs, 1-2 vegetable dishes, occasionally scrambled eggs, an omelet on request, cake, coffee. It was okay, but just not really fresh or energizing as I'd expect from a hotel that I was spending around $150 a night for. Despite the nice bed, I would not stay here again. We opted to spend our last day after check out from GM Suites at the nearby Sofitel swimming pool that we could pay for. It was much more relaxing and not stinky. If management doesn't get ahold of these issues, I can only imagine the hotel getting worse. So many of these reviews seem to glow with praise for the hotel, so I wonder who these people are and whether they see or care about these things. Maybe cockroaches don't bother them and this is just fine.

The hotel near Bumrungrad Hospital it is the first chose if you plan to stay long time for treatment .Staff and housekeeping polite and nice. The rooms and suites large and comfortable. One of the staff was helping every body smiling and welcoming the customers I think her name is sheery.....I hope I am right.
