Banilah Guesthouse

The place is nice and cozy, not in the center of tourists area, which is good. I like the traditional market around the hostel. If you want to see how real Thai people live, this is the place for you.

Really good stay at this guesthouse. The rooms are nice and clean, basic but with some nice features which make them feel a bit more special. The staff were really helpful and friendly. The cats were really cute in the cat cafe too! It’s a little noisy in the morning due to the school nearby and cars going by but it didn’t bother me too much. They could be a little more environmentally friendly by not replacing the plastic wrapped soap in the bathroom every day, I hadn’t used it all up! But all in all a really nice stay.

We loved our stay at Banilah! We had a wonderful welcome from the lovely staff, despite arriving early morning before they had opened. We were given a map and they talked through all the recommended places to visit and eat in Chiang Mai which was super helpful! Throughout our stay they were always around to answer any questions and would go out of their way to help us (helping to print our boarding passes, booking taxis, taking our laundry). They recommended a great app called Grab (like uber) which we hadn't heard of but used the whole time we were in Chiang Mai as it was much cheaper than the normal taxis. The rooms are basic but are cleaned & topped up with drinking water daily and have everything you will need. The location was great for us as you could walk into the old town in about 10-15 minutes but there was plenty of places to eat within a few minutes walk from Banilah. 10/10... the friendly staff made our stay so great. Could not have asked for any more!
