Very old house with Gay sauna. Loud noise. One guy at checkout very bad. At checkout he charged extra for unreasonable items. Be careful!

A must visit for gay traveller in Chiang Mai, either to stay as a guest or to visit the sauna, steam room, pool, crusing areas and bar in the evening. Located in a tranquil setting on the banks of the River Ping, in an 150 year-old teak wood house lovingly converted into a guest house. The rooms and interior are beautiful, playing to it's 150 year old origin. Rooms are well appointed with fridge, tea & coffee making facilities, daily water bottle replenishment and house keeping, TV, air con and mosquito nets. It is an old house, so there is little sound installation, so maybe take ear plugs if your a light sleeper and while beds in SE Asia have notoriously hard mattresses, this was by far the hardest I've slept in, the guest house might consider mattress toppers. It's a short Grab/ Bolt ride to the old city, gay street and night market. There are a few restaurants in the vicinity + a laundry if your looking for a handled clothes wash. Price includes a cooked breakfast by the river with a good range of options. We eat three times in the restaurant for lunch and dinner, it's a small menu but the food is professionally cooked and presented, great portions and a great price. After 3pm the club is opened for day visitors. We stayed a Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday and it was much busier than expected - about 90% locals and other Asian visitors and the rest from the West. You would struggle not to have fun! Pool, sauna and steam room and bar are downstairs, lots of fun. With a darkened labyrinth area upstairs with rooms, beds cabins and video room. There's also a hot tub/ jacuzzi under construction next to the pool- looks 75% complete as of early march 25, the work didn't effect our stay and finished early afternoon. The bar is a great place to meet locals and fellow travellers for friendship or other! The staff are very friendly, professional and hardworking. My fourth visit and this place never fails to please. Great chilled atmosphere, supurb friendly staff. The place gets better every year, it's a real credit to the people that run it. The freshly cooked breakfast every morning, sitting in the sun looking out over the river. Spacious rooms, very individual. A real change from boring modern hotels. And the sauna, what a great bonus! I'd really like to thank the staff for another great stay.
