I used to use this hotel when it was the Montri hotel. Hotel in a great location. Hotel staff lovely and helpful. Pity it has a Burger King there now instead of the old JJ Bakery. Good restaurants within walking distance. Hotel is a bit dated but rooms are clean and a decent size. Overall I have never had a bad stay here, past and present..

The hotel is in a great location. Easy to access markets, bars and restaurants. The road outside is fairly noisy so ask for a room at the back of the hotel overlooking the pool with a view of the mountain. The hotel itself is a little tired with dingy carpets and decor but it doesn’t pretend to be upmarket. The breakfast spread is amazing, I was actually blown away by the choice suitable for all nationalities. The usual items available daily, fruit selection, waffles and syrup, bacon, ham, toast, jam, marmalade, fried eggs, congee and cereal’s alongside a changing daily menu of Thai favourites such as Tom Kha and Penang Curry with fried rice or noodles. Amazing spread. The rooms are pretty basic. The wardrobe contained 4 hangers and there are no drawers at all just a set of 3 shelves just inside the door. There is a TV but we didn’t switch it on at all so I cannot comment on the entertainment it provides. The bathroom was a bit on the tight side. The toilet was jammed between the wall and the shower cubicle. I wouldn’t have wanted to be overweight and try to use it 😂. The room was serviced daily and the bed linen changed frequently ( we were there for 28 days). The shower was a typical Thai fixture, no leeway to angle the shower head so the spray hit the far side of the shower cubicle at a height that would require you to be 6ft 6” to use it. At 5ft 4” this was a problem solved by manually holding the shower head. We had a problem with the hot water being tepid on some days. This was solved by keeping the shower running continuously rather than turning it off to lather up. The pool is small but perfectly formed and ideal for dipping when hot. Note the pool only has 5 sun beds but is generally quiet early afternoon before the crowds appear around 4pm. The staff are helpful and friendly and can offer advice on restaurants and bars. The front of the hotel is ideal for catching taxis summoned on the Bolt app. The Sunday Walking Street Market is literally at the back of the hotel so very convenient. All in all a great stay and I would recommend this hotel for the convenience of the location.

The first room were given was super dusty, had a smell of old cigarettes and the AC was not working. When I went to ask for new room, I was shown the same kind- minus the smell. This time, the hotel engineer took off the AC filter and I saw how gross it was. The lobby and hallways had no AC and it was very hot. I asked for a second key card and was told it required a $500 baht deposit. This was needed for the AC to run. I refused and was about to change hotels when they said I they would give me another card- but if I lost them it was a $200 baht fee each. The front desk guy, who I nick-named Mr Magoo (if ya know) was so rude. When we asked for a breakfast box- we were told we didn’t give them enough time -The request had to be in 18 hours in advance. It seemed like rules were made on the spot and there was no explanation or care. The Smokey smell returned at night if anyone smoked by the pool. We will never come back.
