Makka Hotel is a quiet boutique hotel located in Chiang Mai Old City, and it feels very different from a large resort or a busy city hotel. The atmosphere is calm, intimate, and full of small design details. What I enjoyed most was the public area. The dark wooden structure, white arches, black tiled floors, tropical plants, warm lighting, and artwork all create a peaceful and tasteful environment. It is not flashy, but it has a very clear sense of character. The location is also a strong point. It is convenient for exploring the old city, visiting temples, walking to cafes, and enjoying a slower side of Chiang Mai. After spending the day outside, coming back to the hotel felt like returning to a quiet corner away from the heat and noise. The rooms and facilities are clean and comfortable, but this is not a resort-style hotel with large facilities or a big pool. I think it is best for travelers who value atmosphere, location, and design over full resort amenities. Overall, Makka Hotel is a lovely choice for a short stay in Chiang Mai, especially for solo travelers or couples who want somewhere peaceful, stylish, and easy to explore from.

Located in the eastern part of Chiang Mai city centre, Makka Hotel is characterized by its striking architecture resembling a temple in black and white colors. We booked the hotel for two nights. Already at check-in we gained a very positive impression of the courtesy of the staff. After our suitcases were removed, we were asked to take off our shoes on the way to the room. This simply serves to protect the precious wooden floor. The room was large, spacious and comfortable. There is not much to admire in the hotel itself, as it is a small boutique hotel. Breakfast I had also not booked and therefore cannot rate it. Overall it was definitely enough for the two nights. The location was central but quiet, the staff very friendly, overall a recommendation.

Extremely disappointing experience with Makka Hotel Chiang Mai. I had to cancel a non-refundable booking from March 3rd to March 7th due to unforeseen reasons. I contacted the hotel well in advance, asking for a partial refund or simply to cancel the booking so they could resell the room. Despite plenty of notice and a high chance of reselling the suite, the hotel showed zero flexibility and no willingness to help. No alternatives were offered — no credit, no date change, nothing. Policies are one thing, but customer service is another. This hotel clearly prioritizes money over guests. I would strongly advise future guests to think twice before booking a non-refundable rate here.
