A beautiful structure overlooking the banks of the "Kok" river, the paths immersed in greenery will lead you through little bridges and ponds until you reach the rooms and adjacent services: pool, gym, spa center, etc. The infinity pool overlooks the view of the river, the rooms are very spacious and clean, we also had a patio with a swing (impossible to use in the evening due to the number of mosquitoes and various gnats), obviously bring spray; in case you forget, the structure provides it next to the sink in single-use packets. The restaurant staff (like all the staff at the facility) is competent and warm, the only flaw is the "pizza," which is clearly a flatbread with some sauce on top and cheese... (we Italians like to hurt ourselves by trying pizza around the world) not recommended. In the evening, we went to the "Clock Tower" where we witnessed the light and sound show, then got lost among the alleys with stalls and street food. As for breakfast, it is quite extensive, both sweet and savory, and the coffee is finally the first decent one in these days. Highly recommended structure, with a laundromat less than 100 meters away.

The hotel is located off the beaten track but offers excellent service. The rooms are very neat and clean, the service is very good and the restaurant is also great. The breakfast buffet is fantastic with a very rich offer.

Most hotels in Chiang Rai are located near the busy Clock Tower and Old Bus Terminal. The Legend is one of the few that are located near a river and I specifically chose this hotel for the greenery surrounding the resort and the space and quiet throughout the hotel grounds (and the lower rate at the time of my hotel search helped me to make a quick decision too!). The Good: 1. Room: Everything worked fine in the room and all the expected amenities from a 4-star hotel can be found in the room (hairdryer, Smart TV, safe, ample towels of various sizes, bath robes, bedroom slippers, minibar, kettle, bottled water, toiletries, umbrella etc). 2 door access cards are given. The Superior room and balcony are very spacious and shower room is huge. I didn’t mind climbing some stairs and so requested for a room on the upper level (no lifts in this resort) and totally love the soothing view of the trees and pond below. Aircon is strong and there are no insects or foul smell in the room which I am very thankful for, considering the natural environment of this resort. The amiable housekeeping staff are very quick to respond to requests. 2. Location: Very tranquil area with mostly old residential houses and a handful of smaller hotels around the resort. Nearest 7-11 shop is about 10 minutes’ walk away. The Blue temple is across the river - you can walk about 20 minutes along the road and a large bridge to get there. I did it in the early morning and it was a pleasant stroll for me. A couple of small local restaurants/foodstalls nearby if you’re not dining in the hotel’s Italian restaurant. Or just get a Grab car to town. 3. Breakfast is in a semi open dining space where you can enjoy the serene view of the river and the gorgeous trees all around. The buffet spread was extensive and well-prepared, with a mix of Western and Asian choices (the crispy bacon was amazing!). The friendly restaurant staff will help to make cuppuccino if you request for it and they are excellent, both in taste and in the latte art. The Not-So-Good: 1. The resort is evidently old, as can be seen in the design and some of the room furnishings so if you’re looking for a modern and pristine interior, this may not be for you. Some parts are quite dusty, especially the cane seats at the balcony and the chairs at the seating area facing the river. All 4 pillows in the room are excessively firm and I would have thought that there should have been a mix of both firm and softer ones in the room to suit different guest preferences. 2. I didn’t have a good first impression when I arrived as the reception staff who handled my check in was cold and curt, and didn’t offer any welcome drink on a very hot and humid day. I certainly felt unwelcomed during my arrival and wondered why a poorly trained and indifferent staff was put at the front desk to attend to arrival guests from all around the world.
