We stayed at Dheva Mantra Resort for 2 nights during our Kanchanaburi trip and overall had a peaceful and enjoyable experience. We stayed in the Deluxe Room with River View, and the view was genuinely relaxing. The property itself is very large, beautiful, and calm; perfectly matching the atmosphere of Kanchanaburi. The hotel’s access to the river is lovely, and one of the nicest experiences was enjoying the pool while overlooking the peaceful water and surrounding nature. One thing future guests should keep in mind is the size of the property. Our room was located at the complete opposite end of the resort; quite far from the reception, entrance, and even the swimming pool. Since the hotel is only three stories and does not have elevators, walking back and forth frequently can become a bit tiring, especially when staying in the farthest river-view section. The staff were kind enough to carry luggage during check-in, but things like collecting food parcels still required walking all the way to the reception. We also ordered food from the hotel once, and the quality was good and enjoyable. Another thing I appreciated was the staff behavior throughout the stay. Everyone we interacted with was polite, calm, and helpful, which added to the peaceful environment of the resort. Overall, Dheva Mantra offers a very scenic and relaxing stay experience. While the walking distance inside the property can sometimes be inconvenient depending on room location, the peaceful atmosphere of Kanchanaburi and the beautiful riverside setting help make up for it. A lovely place to slow down and enjoy nature quietly.

I stayed at Dheva Mantra Resort last week and had a wonderful time. The rooms were beautiful, the atmosphere was great, and most importantly, I received excellent service from Khun Tang, who provided information about the rooms and hotel promotions. Dinner was delicious; the Pad Thai is highly recommended. Thank you to Khun Aom for providing such wonderful dinner service. The breakfast was varied and delicious; I recommend having it by the river – the atmosphere is fantastic.

The only part of our Thailand & Cambodia trip that was a disappointment. The culture amongst the staff towards the guests was not what you might hope for or expect. Several times when requesting something such as laundry to be collected or a pool towel or bar service you were instructed to ring a certain number at a certain time or told to find a member of staff (not the one you were asking). No culture of accepting responsibility to help guests, rather just batting the work away. The rooms are pretty dated and scruffy, beds uncomfortable, no storage, 3 coat hangers each. As our room seemed to be depleted of furniture I asked if it we could have a table that would provide some surface area, instead of a sympathetic response or attempt to understand the issue the answer was an immediate resounding “No”. There really is no bar as such, 6 bottles and some mixers on a shelf and no staff. No restaurant for evening meals, a few tables laid up in the lobby. Food from the menu was good, breakfast pretty poor. Seemed to be very few guests, even fewer staff though the reception said that it was very busy. Reception were obsessed about the key cards not being returned, I was told 3 times I would have to pay 300baht if any weren’t returned. On checkout I paid but needed to return to the room to collect my cases which meant holding on to the key card for 5 minutes. This caused a flurry of activity of phone calls, I’m sure they were worried I might be going back to steal the TV. In summary it’s a nice property, building and pool are well maintained, rooms need updating, money needs to be spent on pool recliners and usuable towels. It needs proper management and customer service where the customer always comes first, need to get rid of the “that’s not my job” culture. This is not a 5* star hotel, probably a 3.5* place.
