Sunrise Tropical Resort

Could have used some water sprucing up power washing paint shower handles falling off in the room just a little TLC this place could be nice but everybody working at this resort was amazing the guys on the golf cart shuttle took you all over with a smile couldn't do enough for you and the location is amazing beautiful relay Beach

We chose the resort of a one night stay at Railay. The staff were very accommodating and had our room ready for an early check in. We were allocated interconnecting rooms which on first impression were lovely. One with a double and single bed and the other a large double. On closer look to the rooms, the shower heads were rusty and flimsy. The toilet seats didn't fit the toilet. However it was nice to have a separate bath. Shower was powerful enough with shampoo and body wash provided. The bed was comfortable for me but my partner and his son found then uncomfortable. The resort didn't seem to do anything to combat the mosquitos. Other resorts we have stayed in provide plug ins which don't climate but certainly help. Prior to this stay I was the only one who had been bit in Thailand, on leaving everyone had. The three pools were good. Pool 1 is right on the beach with easy access to their own juice bar and the Amazon cafe. Pool two was in the middle of the resort, again nice but all the tiles were off the spa area. Pool3 was much smaller and by reception, we didn't use this one. Pool towels are provided and again we were allowed to keep these until we left rather than having to hand them back in on check out which was a bonus. Breakfast had a good variety but all the hot dishes were cold. The location - this is the winner for this resort and the price paid. Reception is at one end and the resort spans from railay east to west. Buggies are provided and the staff are more than willing to take you around in them. Railay East has the pier and speedboats leave from here. The beach at low tide is not the best but it is great for access. We also went here for sunrise... Beautiful. Railay west is the main beach where the long tail boats dock from Ao Nang. A cast beach which again pre tourist arriving us beautiful. Gets very busy once the rest of the world wakes up. You have to walk everywhere in Railay. This hotel is next to the walking street which has plenty of restaurants and shops. Also going out through reception and turn right you will start to walk to Phrang Nang beach which is beautiful. Again this was much better once the day troopers had gone. Oversll the staff at the resort were very good. The resort could do with some upgrades but for what we paid, we had value for money. The additions of the monkeys in the trees made our day but obviously this is not something the resort can control.

What a disappointment! Booked adjoining villas for a week. We arrived at night and were immediately grossed out by the neglected rooms. Saying they are “dated” is an understatement. Our doors were so warped, we could not lock them. The shower was a weak trickle and lukewarm at best. The fridge had mold on it, and the outside of the room smelled like sewage. We asked if we could upgrade to a different room, they said a renovated room would be smaller and double the price. We thought we could endure. But the next morning we woke up to find the rest of the resort was just as disgusting. Probably ⅔ of the property is under renovation, so there is construction waste everywhere, and more strong sewage smell as you walk to the restaurant. Breakfast sucked. The coffee is very bitter, the egg-cooks don’t speak any English, so no matter what we ordered, they got it wrong. We still wanted to give benefit of the doubt, so we went exploring. The walking street restaurants on the East (by the mangroves) are old and rotten. It looks like a storm wiped it out and it never quite recovered. So we tried the walking street on the West side. It was more of what we expected and bought some cute things and had some good food. Even saw several cute monkeys playing in the trees overhead. Then we had dinner at the hotel restaurant. They brought three of our meals and forgot to bring the other two meals. I kept asking and they finally brought the other meals 50 minutes after the first ones came. Of course they were cold and congealed. We asked for wine or beer with our meals. Nope! NO ALCOHOL at this resort! That night the AC wouldn’t work. That was the last straw. We left. They would not refund us any money even though I had booked with the hotel directly. So we will chalk this up to an expensive mistake. Please heed my warning and stay FAR away from this lousy DUMP!
