Thai Loei 300 Years Resort

My husband and I stayed here while on a trip to see the ghost mask festival. We had booked for two nights and we had paid up front, something we will never do again after staying here. We arrived and was greeted by who I assume is the owner. The first thing that struck us was the mud! Knee deep mud! The rest of the resort looked very tired and shabby, I don't know where the pictures the resort has posted came from but they don't look anything like where we stayed. We were shown to our "room" a better description would be shed, it was absolutely dreadful, it smelt and the water was unusable. Unfortunately we had arrived too late to find another place to stay or we would have gone somewhere else. Avoid this place, it's horrid and most definitely not worth the money they charge.

We came to Loei to see the Ghost Mask Fastival and decided to stay here for two nights. Unfortunately the site we used to book through Tripadvisor insists on up front payment. When we arrived we were greeted by a nice enough lady but the place was like a mud wallow! She showed us to our room, my heart sank but it was too late to find somewhere else. The first thing that hits you is the dank, damp and acrid smell, quite awful. We threw down our suitcases and resigned ourselves to what we knew would be a terrible stay. After travelling we went to the bathroom and found that the water was a brown, muddy and smelly, I know some places have brown water but was obviously coming from a lake or well, we couldn't shower or brush our teeth then to top it all the toilet seat fell off and nearly splattered some slug type things that had manage to crawl in through the open drain. We spread out our towels on the dirty, smelly bed and slept or at least tried to but that was quite difficult because of the road noise, the curtains were more like nets and the constant itch of insects and mosquitos, the walls have huge gaps so despite our best efforts we couldn't keep them out. There are no fridges, no kettle, nothing except some water stained glasses that quite obviously hadn't been washed. This place is awful, very much overpriced, most Thai would expect to pay about baht 200 per night, certainly nothing like what we paid. Really avoid this place, it has taken the mantle of being the worst place I have ever stayed and I've stayed at quite a few places, check out my reviews. My advice is BOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE!

This resort or B&B has one central area and separate house to stay in. It is clean and you have basic living comfort. The communication is not fluent, you need to use all kind of techniques to make you understandable. I have also the feeling that they take advantages to ask rather high prices for breakfast and evening food. I know it is till cheap for us but evening dinner (1plate Pad Thai) was nearly the same price as a night stay.
