Out of a two-week road trip in northern Thailand Baan Chok Dee Pai resort was the worst place we stayed in. The rooms are really tired, not very clean and generally run down. The bed was quite firm which is normal for Thailand, and the room felt quite damp and musty smelling. The room did have a fridge and kettle which was good, and the shower had a good temperature and pressure. We did not use the pool, but it did look clean. The breakfast was poor, the eggs were cold and there was not a very good choice. The resort was used by groups of young people on organised trips, so I don’t think they would have paid the £25 a night as we did. All in all, I think Pai in general is ripping off the young back packers, who clearly do not realise that they can get far superior rooms in other towns, so there is no reason for the resorts in Pai to charge so much, this resort should not even charge 400 baht for these rooms.

When we arrived after a long trip we were told our bungalow had been double booked and that we would have to share a family room with another couple we were travelling with. We requested a refund which took around an hour and a half to finally receive. The pictures advertised online are quite far from the reality with this accommodation. Our bathroom had hundreds of ants crawling over the walls and when we first arrived a dead frog was rotting next to the pool. If you are on a tight budget this is an okay place to stay near Pai however do not expect to receive what’s advertised online.

Nice welcome from the cat at reception The room itself was a good size with a nice warm shower and utilities Could have done with an outside light that stayed on in the dark as when I came home I couldn't see the path from the jungle growing at the side of it The place was sound but really needed a good clean up and maintenance doing however I understand that the country in a whole is recovering from years of no work due to covid. Location is a little out of the way from the walking street but is 10 min walk. Pool needed a clean and all outside furniture was broken.
