Villa De Pai

The guest house is located just off the ‘L’ of Pai’s curved Main Street. Upon arrival in a rental car we had to negotiate the crowded walking street which was an experience! Despite being right on the doorstep of Pai’s crazy backpacker fuelled nightlife, it was quiet. We only heard distant bass music on 1 of the 3 nights we stayed and woke each day to the sound of birdsong. We were lucky enough to get a hut facing the river and the well maintained gardens. I say ‘hut’ as that’s the first word that comes to mind, but cottage may be the official description. It was small, rustic but clean. The bed had a mosquito net with a small hole but we found we didn’t need it. Small hooks for hanging clothes so we used the curtain poles. Nice balcony for sitting though you could hear your neighbours if they were sat out talking at night. It was a little expensive for the room size but I guess you pay for the quiet and location. Also Pai seemed very very busy (Late Jan 25) so I guess hotels can put the price up. We enjoyed our stay and I would return if in Pai again.

The hut was rustic, but affordable. It was very centrally located and the staff were so kind and helpful. The bed and pillow were very uncomfortable. The noise from the street is quite loud so either join the party or bring ear plugs. The river view is quaint and peaceful and the entire property is setup very cute.

I have stayed twice in this place, loved the garden and being close to the river, but on my last visit a few days ago, I was appalled about the owner rudeness. I only asked to look the bungalow he assigned me before paying ,and he throw a fit, saying why I want to see it??? I do understand that business is slower, due to the smoke in the air ( country side being burnt) and the coronavirus, but hospitality is expected to a regular customer and not rudeness. He doesn't understand about this.
