Thaksin hotel

Arriving late at night by minibus from Krabi, no choice but to go into this hotel where we were dropped. The night porter was NOT friendly. Not welcoming at all, and what was more, he refused to let me see the room! I told him this was the first time this had ever happened to me. What if I didn't like the room? I tried to insist, but he rudely went away, and left me to fume at the desk. As I said, we had no choice, so I paid the very reasonable price for the night and went up in the elevator with much trepidation. Guess what! the room was fine! - more than fine, large, good lighting and a/c, plenty of seating and space, towels, excellent beds, good size bathroom. Very good price for that room, but why wouldn't he let me check it out first?

As our grandson lives here in this part of Thailand, we always sleep one night in this city. Sometimes a very bad hotel, sometimes a little bit better. This hotel has a big restaurant, however during dinner time they organized a very, very loud singing competition. Therefore we decided to eat somewhere else. The small room was clean, but Internet was not possible (no working WIFI). The breakfast the next morning was good for Thai, but no western breakfast. No problem that I brought bread and cheese with me, Friendly staff.

Didn't have much choice . My colleague and I had checked at 6 other hotels in the city which were all full. Paid 600 baht for the night without breakfast (not available). Despite other reviews here, it was actually ok if you just need somewhere to stay the night. Everything worked. Water pressure for shower was good. Room was old but reasonably clean. Didn't have any problems with bed bugs or other insects. A/C worked really well. Even temp and quiet. Bed was very hard. Located near some night entertainment and Big C shopping centre. Easy to get meals there. Plenty of restaurants to choose from.
