Koh Yao Heaven Beach Resort

My review relates solely in respect to my experience as an online customer. I had booked a room around 1-2 months prior to my visit via an online booking site. When I arrived on Koh Yao Yai I was offered assistance by the local police. The local police were soon informed that Koh Yao Yai Heaven Beach Resort had closed for renovations. I was taken to the local police station where I needed to find alternative accommodation, which I did. Prior to doing this I attempted to phone the resort, firstly by the number provided on Google and secondly, by a different number as provided on Agoda.com. Both numbers resulted in prerecorded messages advising the number no longer existed. I received no communication from this resort advising that they were closing and I would have to find alternative accommodation. To my dismay, on the very same day I was to check in my credit card was debited for my 3 day stay. No attempt was made subsequent to reimburse monies paid. It was not until I had communications with Agoda who were finally successful in making contact via email did I finally receive a reimbursement to my credit card. No apology was forthcoming. I'm sure, overall, the resort is an attractive place to stay, which from my research prompted me to make a booking in the first place. I can only hope when the resort reopens that they pay more attention to online customers than what I was given.

Don't be put off by negative reviews. You get what you pay for. This place is ideal for people on a budget and it's in an accessible part of the island, right by the pier (walking distance when you get off the speedboat). Rooms - very basic but very clean. Air con is great for the warm and humid nights. Oven view is recommended. They turn off the electricity for a few hours each day so just ensure you have your phone charged. Amenities - you can hire a motorbike off them for 300 bhat per day, I definitely recommend you do this because then you have a lot more options for dining out/massages/exploring. Bars/restraunts - several very good and reasonably priced restraunts based nearby in walking distance but note that it is a Muslim island so not every restraunt sells alcohol. Some restraunts offer carry out beers so take a bag with you when you eat out, the hotel does have local Thai beers but these are slightly more expensive. Food - the food at the Koh Yao Heaven Resort is REALLY nice! Beautiful fresh Thai food Over all, it's not a 5 star hotel, I would say 3 or 4, as said before, you get what you pay for. The staff are very friendly and helpful and nothing is a problem for them. We have really enjoyed our stay here. Khop Khun Ka

We had a very nice and pleasent stay at the resort, the pool was clean and nice with the sunset. The room ware clean and nice. The staff wad kind, and very helpful. The massage was great, and the shakes fresh. Perfect and quiet beach with no turist at all. We will definately recommend this place. -Christophpher
