Baan Krating Khao Lak Resort

I'll be perfectly objective, without any whimsical pickings. The hotel is on a hillside, the place is very picturesque: cozy multilevel wooden bungalows with balconies drown in tropical greenery, the first line - excellent views of the coast, next door is a national park. Good cleaning, friendly staff. The main cons are probably three, but they're fat. First of all, it seems things are not going well at the hotel - this is the most modest and meagre breakfast I've ever met. This even applies to local fruits, they were given in portions of two thin slices. Secondly, despite its proximity to the water, the hotel does not have its own beach at all - there are stones and boulders sticking out, it is impossible to enter the water. To the beach it is suggested to go aside through the old and dirty other hotel - the way is not close and difficult, down the slide, and back up the mountain, you need to be in good shape. After a tropical rainstorm, you may not get to the beach at all - the surf in the tide erodes the descent site. And passage through another hotel is regulated: only from 7 to 7 p.m., it's inconvenient. And third, it's the location of the hotel. Cao Lac village is already small, and the hotel is the last one and is quite far behind it, walking along the road for about half an hour. Or take a cab. It feels remote and disconnected from "life", and in rainy times so completely isolated - it gets dark early, and there is nothing to do in the hotel itself. Think about it.

Sorry, because it is really sad to give only one point, because the location is quite nice with a nice jungle garden and sea view. BUT this hotel is quite old, the breakfast is very basic and bad. They don’t even serve fresh coffee. Everything is powder based, also the juice. Very bad. The rooms are ok and clean, but definitely overpriced. Another sad thing is, they call them Resort, but they don’t even have chairs on the beach. To the beach you have to walk about 5 minutes thru an old, very dirty and empty other resort. The staff tried to make the best after complaining, but are very unprofessional.

Beautiful place in the middle of nature - we loved it! We had a second row bungalow. The cozy bungalows are older, quaintly furnished and all have sea views. They are located in the middle of the jungle landscape. Cleaning is done daily - if desired - and water is provided daily. The beds are large, but quite hard, but with good pillows. Street noise - mainly quite early in the morning - did not bother us. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. Through the complex it goes via many stairs, to the beautiful beach it is just over 5 min, there is directly a massage and restorations. Access is open until 7 pm. In the evening you walk back halfway up the road on a footpath for about 150 m. We had a scooter, so it is a few minutes to restaurants, shops etc.. Parking of the scooters - we had booked in advance via internet externally - directly in front of the always manned reception. Breakfast we found quite good by Thai standards, were surprised if the bad reviews - everything there: Coffee, tea, toast, sweet pasta, jam, yogurt, fruit, cereals, egg dishes are freshly prepared. We could do without cheese and sausage. The view is beautiful. We also ate here once in the evening, was okay, even priced. For us, the stay here was pretty perfect, we like it quiet, secluded and more typical of the country. If you need luxury, go to one of the new resorts.
