The Haven Khao Lak

We came as family of 5 in August 2026 with youngest being 13 years old. We loved the swimming pools especially the 2 pool bars. We were looked after so well by William and Gummy and others. We were very impressed with the food and drink, we had fussy eaters with us but everyone managed to find food they enjoyed. Although this was mainly a relaxing hotel we did some activities including beach volleyball, water polo and napkin folding, big thankyou to Boy and Phu who helped entertain us :) It was not noisy - no music blaring so was overall a peaceful atmosphere which we loved. We also all made use of the gym which was a fantastic facility overlooking the lovely pool. Our rooms were large and comfortable - the showers were not the best pressure but were fine. All the staff were friendly and helpful and we were very well looked after. We were very sad to leave. The location was perfect for us as we didn’t want to be in the town centre- we used the shuttle bus or got taxis if we wanted to visit. We also walked to a local restaurant one night which was only 5 minute walk. The staff were always cleaning and tidying and we were happy with the cleanliness overall. We thought it was great value for money and wish we could come back every year!

Freshly returned from The Haven after a relaxed 7 day stay. Check in was smooth and we were greeted by the exceptionally friendly reception team who gave us all a cold drink and wonderfully cold face towel which smelled divine. Our travel agent had made us aware of a new hotel under construction, prior to our arrival and offered us the chance to change properties. We decided, upon consideration of posts on this forum to proceed as planned. The hotel initially allocated us rooms adjacent to the construction site and immediately noticed the inevitable noise associated with heavy construction. This was not something we could tolerate so we asked to move rooms. In fairness, the hotel management understood completely and agreed to move us the following day. The construction noise started as early as 7am and certainly disturbed our peace. However all was well once we were moved, again without fuss or complications from the hotel management. Our new rooms were similar and I am glad we swapped rooms. We booked swim up pool rooms and they were spacious, well appointed and cleaned to a high standard every day. The a/c was also good. Showers not so good. The pressure wasn't great and the temperature fluctuated from freezing cold to very hot within 10 seconds on loop. This is certainly something the hotel could look to address. The pool access was fantastic. The saltwater pools were always a great temperature and so inviting. The pools are tired and need some TLC. There are alot of missing and discoloured tiles and along with highly noticeable levels of either algae or salt residue where the pool level sits. I understand that this is not an easy task for a hotel that operates throughout the year and it is clear that the hotel invests on aesthetic improvements during low season as there were painting and renovating teams working around us. This didnt bother us at all as we understand that maintenence needs to occur. The swim up pools also each have jacuzzi jets and again, this is something that the hotel must improve if they aspire to be a 5 star resort. Ours didnt work and chatting to other guests, neither did theirs which was a shame. The resort is large and quite remote from civilisation. Not a bad thing if you just want to relax. There is a very limited shuttle service into Bang Niang and Khao Lak although this has to be booked the day before. The journey into those places takes 15/20 minutes. You can easily get a taxi/tuk tuk as an alternative to the shuttle if you want flexibility or dont wish to be tied to a 2 hour return time. A taxi will cost you 300 Thai Baht each way. Bang Niang market opens almost every other day but there are plenty of bars and restaurants around the market area to explore. The hotel food at the hotel is good and inexpensive. The drinks are also good and again reasonably priced for a hotel. I would say that their happy hours could be better advertised or promoted, as we had to ask. Breakfast is good with plenty of choice. Egg station, fruit, cereal, Thai food, pastries, fresh bread and a plethora of drinks to choose from. Couldn't fault it. The hotel vibe is super chilled, set in a secluded, tropical location. The staff are professional and super friendly. Nothing is too much trouble for them. We enjoyed our stay very much. If the hotel can get on top of the shower and pool issues, then this would strengthen their 5 star status claims. Without the adjustments, then certainly a strong 4 star resort. Thank you for a wonderful stay to all the staff.

We had a wonderful stay! Thank you to the friendly, hard working staff. We were looked after so well at every meal. Breakfast - was incredible! Spoilt for choice. We enjoyed the salt water pool overlooking the beach. Nice and quiet especially with no kids under 12 policy.
