The Verona at Tub Lan

The positive first: Rooms and bathrooms are clean and sensibly furnished, the units are pretty and the gardeners do a great job throughout the complex. The a la carte cuisine is very good and the Asian part of the breakfast buffet is extremely varied. For Europeans, however, there is only toast and cornflakes for breakfast. The complex is probably planned as a family and adventure resort, but much has been closed and run down (probably since Corona). The housing units are surrounded by a belt of closed restaurants, shops and a crumbling Wild West city. It seems creepy.

This was the first stop of a 25 year wedding anniversary celebration for my wife and I. Stayed in a deluxe room. Cups not clean and chipped. Only 2 sachets of triple mix coffee provided. Too bad if, like us, you don't take sugar or milk. No tea available. Room was large with a balcony. No point in sitting on the balcony because it overlooked rundown buildings and unkempt gardens. Bed was comfortable if you like a very soft mattress. A sign by the bed said sheets changed every 3 days. Not sure if they change between guests. We ordered fish for dinner. It wasn't fresh. Very little selection for breakfast. Fried eggs had been put in a metal tray with no form of heating so were cold. Coffee was like mud. Most of the advertised attractions eg gondola ride and horse riding were not available. There is a bridge across water that leads to a gate so you can leave the resort. Reception gave us a code to enter so we could come back in. There is nowhere to enter the code to get back in. Fortunately the gate is low and I was able to put my hand over and open it from the Verona side. If the gate is that low there is no point in having one because anyone can walk in. I can't say the staff were unfriendly but they didn't go out of there way to make us feel welcome. Overall appearance is that the place is very run down and needs a lot of maintenance. To give a comparison the next night we stayed at another resort, not far away, which was only 300฿ more expensive and got the honeymoon suite with private spa.

It is one of the few hotels in Thap Lan area. It is opposite the entrance to Thap Lan National Park. It is decorated in an Italian style. When I went it was quite old. There are very few tourists. But the overall atmosphere is still good. I just came for training so I didn't know the price of the room. I stayed in the Forever Suite room. The room was big, the bed was soft and there was a dining table. There is a sink, microwave, and large refrigerator. The bathroom has a bathtub. The disadvantage is that the bathroom is in front of the room and the ventilation flows through the front of the room. When people walk past the front of the room, they can hear people's voices. Or we do business in the bathroom. People in front of the room will be able to hear the sound. The surrounding atmosphere has a pond. There are lots of places to take photos. There is also a swimming pool. I think the breakfast is okay, tastes good, there aren't many lines, but it's delicious.
