Pinpao Guest House

We booked this guest house for its location and it was the only good point. It is not maintained, the decoration is old and ugly, it looks like the hotel was abandoned 5 years ago by its owner. There was no one in the hotel except a lady at the reception (not always there), nice but she does not speak English very well. The pool was clean but nothing around was maintained. That's pity because it has to be a good place 5 or 10 years ago. The most negative point was certainly the litery, if you can call it like that. So hard!

We were looking for somewhere to stay in Sukhothai for a couple of nights to visit the ruins and came across Pin Pao which was highly rated and the pictures looked nice. How wrong this was! We arrived to check in to any empty guesthouse. We were waiting around for about 15 minutes before someone drove up outside to check us in. The lady who worked there was pleasant but it was a strange start to our trip. The place needs a massive clean as there were multiple cobwebs and dead insects through out the guesthouse. One of the main reasons we booked it was for the pool but this too was not as nice as we expected. There was also a hot tub that was listed on the description but this wasn't even filled up aside from mud and had a lizard roaming about it. The bed was solid and there were cobwebs in the room. There were also lizards scurrying about the room during the night which made it difficult to sleep. The women made a massive effort preparing breakfast for us but it was slightly off putting when she kept sneezing whilst making our eggs. To be fair we didn't pay a lot for the room so weren't expecting the world, however I think at very least it could be cleaned properly.

We booked for 2 nights only so we could explore the Sukhothai Ruins (and use the pool the remaining time) and I've never been more disappointed. We arrived around 1pm after not being able to find the place, no locals seem to know it and it isn't signposted, to no one in the hotel. There was a key and note on the desk saying they're out but we can let ourselves in... After finding out room we went out to the pool to find it was unusable - we have stayed in many guest houses around Thailand and really aren't fussy but the pool was filthy and all kinds of rubbish at the bottom of it. At 7.30pm we had a rude lady knock on the door and demand we now check in even though we have been alone in the hotel the whole time. The next morning we were served breakfast with a dead mosquito on the top and stale toast. The woman then disappeared again for the whole day. We were the only guests and I see why!
