My Phangan Resort

The hotel is nice and quiet It's clean comfortable they air conditioned and have a hot shower. The staff were very friendly there was beach and It was awesome best thai food ever I had a really nice time there

The place is located right at the quiet Ban Tai beach, which has soft sand (not like Haad Rin, but still soft) and lovely palms. The sea doesn't get deeper than knee-depth, but is clean and you may have it to yourself. The bungalows are comfortable, airconditioned and have a hot shower. They are build in a circle, which creates a lovely garden in between them. There is a good restaurant (breakfast/Thai/home-made burgers), which is also a good place to socialize. At the beach there is a tiny bar, where they also throw pre-parties before full/half/dark-moon. Ban Tai village is not that exciting, so you'll need a scooter. Staff (and their dogs) are very friendly and speak solid English. Price for a two-person, airco bungalow is a very acceptable 700 baht (non-full moon period). Best place I stayed on the Samui islands.

Basically I think anyone who complains about this place is snobby and doesn't understand the value that money buys. Yes, this place is cheap, and yes, maybe it's a misnomer to call it a "resort" ;-P but as far as vacations go, this is all you need: Beach is RIGHT THERE and clean and beautiful. Perfect. Yes, bungalows only have fan and cold water shower -- but why do you need more than that? They're clean, roomy enough, and have a porch with a comfy hammock -- could have spent the rest of my life in that hammock! Wifi is fast and expansive across the property -- I did work from my "office" on the beach :D Food and drink is reasonably priced and tasty -- wouldn't recommend the full American breakfast though. Stick to what they do best -- the Thai dishes! Location: It's close to the pier Thong Sala where I landed -- so I walked off the pier, rented a motorbike, and was in Baan Tai all within a half hour. Bike a bit further down the road over the rolling hills and you're in Haad Rin, where they have basically a mini Khao San and all the Full Moon parties. I had no interest in going over there, but I did explore the northern part of the island on my motorbike and had fun doing so. I guess Haad Salad beach is more remote, but it's quite far away from the pier, so I was happy I stayed closer -- and this place was still quiet! To sum up -- it's simple, affordable, convenient -- everything I was looking for in my Thailand island experience. Oh, and they have adorable dogs and cats who I enjoyed petting as well :) Would definitely stay here again -- hopefully next time with my boyfriend instead of just me myself and I!
