Pen Hostels

I was stupid enough to go to Ko Phangan on the day of full moon without any accommodation fixed. i knew it was gonna be hard and expensive but i didn't expected this. after searching for a long time i eventually ended up @ pen hostel. The woman who taxied me to the hostel said the price will be 500 baht the night. after arriving the woman who brought me there immediately left and there was no one at the reception. after waiting for a while the woman of the hostel arrived who told us the price per night will be 600 baht a night and said that she didn't know about anything when i asked about the 500. i was desperate for a bed so i took it for one night but it was obviously a fixed up scam. the rooms are awful, there are a couple of bunk beds but the rest of us slept on hard mattresses on the floor. they even tried to let a girl sleep on 2 blowup swim pool beds for 600 a night! in one room slept about 12 people, these people where cooled down with 2 fans in total. when we asked for the wifi password the woman claimed the whole island's internet was down and there is no possibility to get on the internet right now. one of the girls was smart and asked for the password anyway(incase it will work again), when we tried to get on the wifi it was working!! showers where dirty and where not cleaned in a while. Location is alright in Thong sala, very close to the pier. about 20 min taxi ride(100baht) to haat rin where the full moon party is. Staff is not unfriendly BUT they are obviously not being honest with you and taking abuse of backpackers who are in need of a place to sleep.

I would not trust Pen ever again. I have been to Thailand five times totalling 13 months and never felt like I been ripped off til I met this woman. I arranged a villa through her as met her before when staying. When arrived it was a different villa to agreed, I wasn't too bothered as was nice BUT still not as nice and thought who cares I'm on holiday. Everything ok until two days before New Year's Eve and she said we move to new villa and took me to this Pens hostel which is an absolute mess and not what we agreed. I then had to pay for a new villa elsewhere leaving me massively out of pocket and go crazy to get my money back that I was owed which took two weeks and she only paid up as I said we will call Thai friends on the island or failing that the police. When I went to get my refund she started shouting at me for questioning that three weeks utilities had come to 1950 baht haha just proving the nutter she is. Look at the one 3 star review on here it is by her, Pen herself couldn't even rate herself five stars so think what you'd be in for staying there. I wasn't going to write this as I hate complaining (check my other reviews) but this woman is not to be trusted. I still have the original contract she wrote up for the villa in case she wants to accuse this review of being false but please do not stay here.

Many people stayed at pen hostel she is so friendly and the hostel was clean but some customers like ti make dirty and put paper in the toilet the reception no need to be there every time because some customers don't tell they want to check out one day before
