This place is large (7 floors) and cheap (only 15,000 baht per month if you want a long stay) and the staff are nice and helpful, large-sized rooms, very large and soft beds, but the big downer is no WiFi Internet anywhere in the building. You can take your laptop to the reception desk and plug in a cable there, but that's inconvenient (sometimes another guest is using the single cable) and it's sometimes not working. An Internet shop (1 baht/min) is 2 minutes down the road. Plus: Very quiet location, but still only a 4-minute walk from the beach. Minus: The restaurant food is mediocre and it's always empty. Eat elsewhere. Minus: No gym or pool in the building. Some floors are undergoing renovation, and overall cleanliness could be better. Recommendation: Directly across the street, literally 10 seconds away, is the PTK Residence which is incredibly cheap (8,000 baht/month) and has unlimited WiFi (400 baht/month), a nice gym downstairs (900 baht/month), nice rooms (a little smaller than Samui Plaza), very quiet, nice staff, and is a new building opened in the middle of 2008. PTK's cleanliness is very good. No restaurant in the building, but there are plenty of Thai eateries, as well as Indian, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, English, etc., located nearby. No problem if you want to bring an external friend back to your room at night. Staff are relaxed and helpful. Rooms also have a good-sized balcony to sit outside, unlike Samui Plaza, which has balconies but they're too narrow to even put a chair there, let alone a table. I highly recommend the PTK Residence instead of Samui Plaza. Not only is it much cheaper, but better in every way.
