Seafan Resort

We choose this place for the beginning of our RTW trip. Having done a lot of research we knew what to expect. An older complex, worn, but beautiful and roomy. And it was just that. We had a beachfront unit, absolutely the ones to have. Great and close to the sea. When we did a day tour with the speedboat they even dropped us of in front of our unit, great. The litte house is wooden and roomy. There is a safe and a bathroom. The boardwalks around the place are worn, watch for splinters! Internet is at the office and not great. It is quite a walk to the centre of Maenam. When you are tired of the beach you do need transport to get around. A week later we went to Lamai, touristy but also very lively. We ate at the restaurant a couple of times but it is quite expensive. Around 5 all the market stalls appear with food, you can choose what you like and they give it to you in small plastic bags. Very nice and very cheap. However you do need to have your own plates and cutlery. The swimming pool is very nice and neatly maintained. There is a bar in it which is not beeing used anymore. It was rather quiet when we were there. Apparantly it is popular with german tourists. There was talk of it being sold. Next door is a new complex, nice but not as much room as what we have. Nice quiet beach, the water goes deep very quickly.

This has been a lovely place, but they need to hire someone to maintain the resort. It is soon falling apart, Teak-oil is a word they don't know.... The staff is very service-minded, the bungalows is clean and tidy, and it has exellent food in the restaurant, to a fairly good price. We Were 2 adults and 2 children who stayed for 1 week in february 2005, The bungalows were a bit overprized. Roar Wold, Norway
