Ubon Hotel

We stayed in an AC room and a fan room. The AC room was 500B and the fan room was 350B. It's expensive for Ubon, but considering the location, it's good value for money. The bus from the airport gets you off at Thung Si Muang, and to go to Big C or Tesco Lotus, you take a songthaew that runs along the road to Wat Maharanam. There is a night market opposite the hotel that is cheap and delicious for locals. There is also Cafe Ama, Seven and the Lotus convenience store, so the location is good. There was a city hotel along the main road, but this one seemed to be in a better location. Even in the fan room, the fan was powerful so it was cool.

I booked this hotel via Agoda, and clearly this was a mistake. First I have to say Agoda cheated me on the superior room deal. Truth is there is no such thing as a superior room. All the rooms are standards. The only difference is that the superior rooms normaly comes with breakfast, tea or coffee. However given the state of the restaurant which is closed,there is no tea, no nothing and all the hotel rooms are 500 baths. Agoda cheated me on that one. Why did i pay for a premium which doesn't exist. I will never ever use Agoda again. Pros : Location, it is near a market, some shops and the airport is not far off. Cons : Although clean, the room was infested by ants, including the bed. I could not sleep as i kept getting bitten all night. I asked for a non smoking room, but the balcony was full of old cigarette buds. The whole building looks in needs of a much much needed complete renovation. It feels as if the hotel has been abandoned years ago. It is like a time capsule from the 70's...They try to keep it clean ish...but it really needs a complete make over. It's falling appart. There is an old TV set in the room, with 8 channels. Ammenities are just two bars of soap. Aircon has no remote, but even with one it struggles to keep the room cold enough. The restaurant has been closed for sometime and it is in a mess. In conclusion, I know I can't expect much for 17$, however there are much better places in that town. I transit through Ubon all the time, and have stayed in much better places for the same budget. To be franck, the owners should close this place down and put it out of it's misery. At least the staff was pleasant.

We selected this hotel because of its location, just next to Rachabut Night Market & being very close to Thung Sri Muang Day/Night Market. Had a comfortable stay. We went to Ubon Ratchathani as a weekend Train Ride, from Bangkok (Train #23), needed a place to stay till the next day (to return by train again). We went to Ubon Hotel around 9:45AM thinking to leave luggage till check-in time but they simply checked us in and gave the key without any fuss. Next day, we needed late check-out as our return train (#22) was at 14:50 and they were very happy to extend the stay until 13:30, a service unheard these days. This hotel has a very very long history hence has signs of its age everywhere and seems to have barely survived the pandemic. We are glad if our stay was a helping hand. If the old-age is tolerable, then this is good value for money. We would not hesitate to stay again because of the service.
