2000 Anittepe

We stayed at this hotel because we were unexpectedly stuck in Ankara overnight. Pros: close to Metro and a short taxi ride to Ankara Gar Good manager, good English skills Close to shops/restaurants Cons: Stinks Old Noisy - especially when you have a romping couple next door, grunting and groaning and leaving an hour later!!! Lack of maintenance

The hotel is situated among quiet houses area and a little bit away from Maltepe Ankaray Station and the room is rather old and sometimes no airconditioning and has warm fridge. Despite of those minus points, I would give plus points to staffs who are very friendly and helpfull and I enjoyed conversation with Yunus, Orkun and Buket very much.They have to improve laundry service system as it was not returned as agreed and sometimes mixed with others' laundry. From the beginning, there is no laundry slip to check what was in a laundry bag. As there is no slip, the laundry subcontracter came to the hotel to ask if dry cleaning or washing is needed.

At first I thought ... in the middle of Ankara? The busy capital of Turkey/ But to my pleasant surprise, accessing the hotel by car from the east was a painless experience. Being history fundis, the hotel is located in walking distance of the fabulous Anıtkabir (the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the leader of the Turkish War of Independence and the founder and first President of the Republic of Turkey). The hotel is situated in a quiet side street but appeared to be in need of a lick of paint. A bit of mainetance will do the hotel no harm! We had a fairly comfortable room with a decent en-suite bathroom and good shower. The free wi-fi was working perfectly and the hotel offered a great buffet breakfast, one of the better ones that we experienced on our 'budget-friendly' trip through Turkey. The cleanliness of the room and public areas of the property cannot be faulted. The reception staff were courteous, friendly and very helpful with the checking in process and advising us of how to find the points of interest we were after. All in all, a pleasant stay and a city that (hardly) sleeps.
