Metropolitan Hotel Ankara

Thursday evening arrived, a receptionist not friendly at all with a negative look, bad temper,, room 1208

The hotel itself is in need of an upgrade and the manager informed me that it had been sold and will be refurbished in the near future. We asked to move from our first floor room as it smelt of damp and overlooked parked cars.were moved by the excellent lady receptionist ot a much nicer room with a view. The breakfast is quirky but I guess the Turks eat soup and potatoes for breakfast, so when in Rome.... Never, ever use the miny bar or the "free items" on the side. These are definitely NOT free and extremely expensive, as we found out at checkout. On the plus side the spa is fantastic and the staff couldn't do enough for us. You need a swimming cap, however, that they provide for arond 6eu, so bring one. The reception, security staff and manager were very friendly and helpful. When I left my phone in a cab they traced it via cctv, rang the authorities, discovered the owner and it was returned to me within a couple of hours. A fantastic result. They have my sincere thanks.

The receptionist was incredibly rude and completely unprofessional. He deliberately made us wait for 3 hours for no reason, probably just because we are Syrian. Disgusting racism and the worst hotel experience ever, avoid this place at all costs. The receptionist was incredibly rude and completely unprofessional.
