15th June 26
We arrived at 2am. after a two hour taxi drive, so tired and just wanted to get to bed. The night porter alocated a room but not the one we booked so we accepted it and sorted the problem out the following morning. After breakfast we moved into a terraced room that had fabulouse views of the bay and Kalkan, equiped with 2 sun loungers 2 chairs a table and a umbrella so now happy. As with other reviews the hotel has seen better days and Shaby Sheak is not the way I would descibe it. It needs a total re fit and from what I can gather from other guests the hotel has been for sale for some time which explains things not getting upgraded. Do not get me wrong, it dose have a certain charm and many guests had been there many times before. The staff are realy nice and do work so hard to keep guests happy so the overall experiance is qute good. The bar and resturat are outstanding and a lovely place to meet up after the day. The food was some of the best we have exerianced on holiday and so we ate there several times. So overall a good holiday

Ok. Quite a long review but I wanted to cover everything.
We arrived around midnight and to say we were underwhelmed would be kind.
The hotel had no name outside so our taxi driver wasn’t sure he was in the right place and had to leave the taxi to check that this was indeed the Likya Residence.
On entering the hotel we were met with a dour and sparse reception area. The chap on reception was friendly and quickly checked us in and took us to our rooms. He explained breakfast details and left.
Room was spacious but definitely in need of a refurb. The doors were the bane of our holiday. The doors into the rooms were so heavy and warped, you had to bang them really hard to get them to close. That meant being woken early in the morning and late at night by the flow of people coming and going to their rooms. The patio door was on its last legs and again very hard to close. So much so we decide to leave it open as it was too much hassle to shut.
We don’t normally watch TV when away but tried to tune in to the World Cup one late night however the tv didn’t tune in to any channels. On checking the wire to the aerial had been cut.
The rest of the room was ok, comfy bed and lots of hanging space.
Bathrooms again were very spacious with a lovely walk in shower and a modern toilet, but the sink was very old and the tap (which only came out as a dribble or full power) hardly reached the sink, so much so half the water went over the top of the cupboard. The main gripe with the bathroom was absolutely no hanging space. Not one hook for a hand towel so we had to hang the towel off the cupboard door. It would not take much to put a few hooks around the large room for towels and dressing gowns.
The balcony was large and had the most stunning views. It had 2 chairs with a table and brolly and two sun loungers. Sadly one bed was broken and couldn’t be used. We reported to reception but it was not changed throughout our 10 day stay.
Breakfast was fine. Plenty of fruit, cereal and juices, with a choice of eggs to follow. Again another moan, the floor was dirty. Yes it’s open aired so you get leaves etc blowing in, but there was well trodden food bits and dropped bread pieces that weren’t cleaned up from one day to the next.
Staff at the hotel were lovely and friendly. They all greeted you warmly each time you saw them. The hotel maid did insist on knocking the door when the ‘do not disturb’ sign was on, which was a bit of a pain.
We ate lunch several times in the dining area and the food was excellent. We also had an evening meal in their outside à la carte which had musicians playing and was a great night. The bar area is good and has plenty of seating.
The pool area is gorgeous and very relaxing with lots of sunbeds in the sun or shade, which was great as it was so hot.
We went twice to Yali beach club which was free for this hotel and a good alternative for a change of scene.
Final negative, they need to get a decent gardener in for a few hours. The beautiful bougainvillea was lanky and needed cutting back to make the most of it. There were small gardens by the breakfast room and dining room but both were overgrown and full of weeds. There was a bench in the one area but it had weeds growing around it and the hedging in front blocked the superb views. It would be a lovely spot to sit and enjoy a cocktail if only a bit more care was taken.
Overall we enjoyed our holiday, the staff, views and the pool made this hotel, and for that reason I’ve given it 4* but in all honesty without that it would warrant no more than a low 3.
Just a little care and attention could make this hotel outstanding
