Patara Prince Hotel & Resort

We loved this complex. It is a little dated but had everything we wanted or needed for our week stay. Lovely pool area and excellent access to the beach. Great option of the water taxi into town. We enjoyed a slow walk into town on an evening and very easy and cheap taxi back. The food was lovely. Staff helpful. Maybe not a good idea to stay if you have mobility issues as the resort is set on a steep incline. We’ll definitely visit again and loved our stay.

This hotel, where we went as two families, was truly awful. The phone, air conditioning, mini-fridge, and safe in the room didn't work. It only started working after we repeatedly asked them on the third day. On the second day, my toothbrush and gel disappeared. Despite complaining to the manager, the manager implied we were lying, saying the cleaning staff member had been working there for six years and that he trusted them. He even made accusations like "you might be misremembering." Of course, you work with people, you need to trust your staff, but would you really show such indifference then? I've witnessed the strangest conversations from a manager in the world. We went on vacation to relieve the stress of the year, but we'll go home stressed out.

Disappointment – unfortunately not at all what we expected We went to the Patara Prince Resort with high expectations, but were unfortunately disappointed in several points during our stay. First of all, the pool is a saltwater pool. By the second day, the pool was already half empty. Upon inquiry, we were told that it was a technical defect and the repair would take 2–3 days. The other pool is located outside the hotel. The shuttle only takes you to a certain point, after which you have to continue on foot. The lounge chairs were partially broken, and overall, much of it made an unkempt impression. If you want to drink something, there is no reasonable service there – you have to go to the supermarket across the street and buy something yourself. Access to the sea is via old, squeaky, and partially mossy stairs. The sea itself, however, was truly beautiful, very clear and clean – there is absolutely nothing to complain about there. The spa area was okay. Our rooms were very clean. I would also like to mention the staff in the valet area as particularly positive – they were all very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the breakfast also disappointed us. The selection was very limited, much of it did not seem fresh, and the breakfast area or the dishes were partially not clean. For a resort of this category, we would have expected significantly more here. The biggest reason for our disappointment, however, was the way a staff member in the service area treated us. Because the staff member did not know our lounge chair number and could not find our table on the ocean side, I was downright reprimanded and yelled at by him. Such behavior toward a guest is absolutely unacceptable to me. There were also significant problems with the service. We did not receive a response to our order until about 20 minutes later, and the food did not arrive until approximately an hour later. After we complained to the manager about the incident, we unfortunately did not feel that our complaint was taken seriously. At that time, new guests had just arrived, and the manager seemed rather annoyed by our complaint. It was especially disappointing that we did not receive any apology afterward from the staff member who had yelled at me. We encountered him two more times over the following two days. Although he saw me, he did not even bother to apologize. Of course, there can be technical problems in a hotel, and of course, a meal can sometimes be delayed. Such things can be accepted. What is not acceptable to me, however, is being yelled at by a staff member as a guest and subsequently receiving no apology or appropriate reaction whatsoever. There are certainly positive aspects: The rooms are clean, the sea is beautiful and very clear, the spa area is fine, and the staff in the valet area were really very friendly. Nevertheless, due to the overall disappointing service, the breakfast, and especially because of how the staff member treated us, we unfortunately left very dissatisfied.
