Palmiye Garden Hotel

A terrible hotel, worst in all categories. The food, inedible, we lived on coffee, juice and watermelon. All "hot" food was cold. No variation whatsoever. However, if you are hungry for meat stew, white beans and sweet chili sauce for breakfast, this is something for you. Also want to say that we are not picky., but this was a total disaster. We ate amazing food out every day but it wasn't what we had anticipated. The staff, disaster, simply disaster, they barely wanted to look at you as Cover. We had a water leak in our bathroom with about 5 cm of water every day, told from day one, several times during the same day, never offered anything else but yelled at for being a whiny tourist. Extremely worn rooms type 70's. The bartender by the pool, never a smile, most grumpy when someone wanted something to drink, worked on the assembly line method, plastic glasses that were so thin that they crumpled when you filled water in them, useless. The pool, one day it was cleaned during our stay, unfresh and dangerous. It was promised a Private Beach, yes, a strip about 20 meters wide four chairs in width, laughable, however, we never intended to lie there but a little more would probably have been desired. Bar/serving even for payment does not exist, promised when booking.

Our room wasn't too bad. We had air conditioning, kettle and fridge, no spoons though just wooden sticks and no cups just paper cups. Shower wasn't so good it just tickled out but they did come and change the shower head and the shower was fantastic then and could get a good shower. Cleaners were lovely and kept it clean. Balcony was tiny you couldn't fit 2 people on it even though it had a small table and 2 chairs due to the door. Probably if it had a sliding door you would of been able to sit on there. We paid extra for sea view which I was glad we did as we had quite a nice room. Someone I spoke to had a very small room near the stage area, no fridge, no kettle, tiny shower and no curtains on the windows but was told that was budget room , they did get moved and the room they got was better. Bar staff inside the hotel very rude, even if you said please and thank you they glared at you, snatched your drinks off you etc. The main guy at reception I really liked him he was a little bit quiet but he did look very tired as they do all work hard and he did smile at us when we came back to the hotel at gone 2 am and whenever we walked past him (I don't think he could speak a lot of English). The restaurant staff are lovely and the guy at the bar near the pool Food though was awful , I only ate 1 full meal the whole week. I didn't eat breakfast at all. Salads were mainly mixed salads at first which I didn't like as they use a lot of dill herbs, then then did put separate salads out. A lot of aubergines,spinach in something, mushrooms in a sauce with small meatballs and then next day same thing but with sliced meatloaf. Pasta, rice, bulgar wheat. More or less same food every day. They did a BBQ one night which was lovely this was my first meal I ate. Lots of sweets which my friends ate. Cocktails I didn't like there, we mainly had vodka which we would have a couple before we went out. It seems that most of the hotels in the area are full of Russians and cater for the Russians and Germans, as most of the people I spoke to complained about the food. What can I say a lot of the Russians were rude and arrogant never said excuse me or sorry and stared at us English. There are a few nice hotels near the beach but the majority are not so near the beach, this is why we chose this hotel. I didn't see a lot of cats near the hotel just one or 2 but it didn't bother us as we are cat people. The cats (wild) in the area are very looked after and loved. We got cartons of water from the pool bar to take to our room to drink there was also a cold hot water dispenser. The hotel tbh wasn't to bad, maybe a bit worn in places like the settees in the reception area but you get what you pay for and it didn't bother me. We used it as a base and just spent the morning at the pool and after lunch went to the beach. We had the discovery jeep safari which was a fantastic day. Spent every night at the sky alremu restaurant and bar, we had a couple of meals there and the guys who work there are fantastic. The doner kebab shop opposite the hotel did fantastic wraps, we had the chicken wraps, best I've ever had and they are cheap. Would I go again to this hotel, I probably would as a base again but wouldn't eat the food as we didn't like it. I would also want the room I had or one near the pool

It's a nice hotel, for those who like to walk in the city centre. Special thanks to the staff, especially Erol and Murat , they are cool, understand Russian and fulfill all the wishes of the holidaymakers. The food is good and delicious, near stops, shops and cans. Waikiki and the migros are about a kilometre away
