🚨 CRITICAL WARNING TO UK/IRISH TRAVELERS: Do not be swayed by the high overall ratings you see for this hotel! If you look closely at TripAdvisor, you will notice that almost all the 5-star reviews have been automatically translated into English from Russian, Polish, or Turkish. If you filter your search to show "English First" or "English Only," you will see what the experience is actually like for British and Irish guests. The First Impression & The Positives When we first pulled up to the Asteria Collection Side, the hotel looked lovely. The reception area is very nice, and the staff at the front desk were welcoming. Another unexpected highlight was the wild cats, if you like cats of course! There are plenty of stray cats and adorable kittens roaming around, which our three children absolutely loved playing with. Sadly, that turned out to be the absolute highlight of the trip for them. Room Issues & Subpar Housekeeping Unfortunately, things went downhill fast from day one. The Room Assignment: We arrived with three children and specifically requested two rooms close to each other. Instead, they placed us at least 10 rooms apart, forcing our family to split up for the night, which was incredibly stressful. First Room Condition: The first rooms were dingy, had dirty glasses left outside in the hallway, and worst of all, the very first room had ants crawling all over the place, including in the bed. The Suite Upgrade: We were eventually moved to a family suite in the old building the next day. While it was a slight improvement, the room was just barely passable. The hairdryer was ancient, the toilet doors didn’t lock properly, and housekeeping was completely hit-or-miss. Day one was great, day two our room wasn't cleaned at all (despite having the sign up), and day three they left us short on basic essentials like toilet paper and conditioner. Dining & Drinks: Highly Disappointing For a self-proclaimed 5-star resort, the food and beverage program was shockingly poor. Breakfast: The options were incredibly limited and identical every single day. There was no freshly squeezed orange juice or standard breakfast items like pasteries. Instead, the selection is heavily geared toward Russian, Polish, and Turkish tastes—offering things like cabbage, peas, and carrots for breakfast. Most items you will not know what it is that is being setved. British or Irish tourists will likely find very little to enjoy here. Meat & Fish Quality: The lunch and dinner buffet was just as bad. A lot of the meat served was either heavily processed or incredibly fatty, with thick, fatty skin left all over the chicken. We were even served undercooked turkey at one point. As for the fish, your choices are very limited, and it is served entirely whole—bones, head, eyes, and everything. If that kind of thing puts you off, you will struggle to find anything to eat. Drinks: Absolutely terrible. There are no branded drinks available, the beer tastes off, and the cocktails were genuinely unpalatable. The Atmosphere & Clientele Easily the worst part of this holiday was the behavior of the other guests. The clientele here (predominantly Eastern European) were some of the rudest people I have ever encountered. There is zero basic etiquette—people will openly skip you in lines, talk right over you, and if you hold a door open for them, they won't even acknowledge you or say thank you. There are only a small handful of British, Irish, or Scottish families here, and the hotel makes it clear who they are catering to. At the disco, British music is highly limited, and they explicitly banned English karaoke because they said English speakers are not the demographic they cater to. Amenities & Limitations If you are booking this hotel for the water park, be warned: it is only open for a couple of hours in the morning and a couple of hours in the afternoon. Your time there will be heavily restricted. Summary: Do not be fooled by the "5-star" rating or the inflated review scores. At best it's a 3 star.
