Our stay had both positive and negative aspects. Although the hotel has several deficits and lack of experience at several staff groups, that are not expected from a 5-star property, the excellent location and the warm hospitality made a big difference.
The Ladies at Reception were consistently friendly, attentive, and supportive, always trying their best to help and make guests feel welcome. Their kindness created a very pleasant atmosphere.
With improvements in some areas, especially considering the standards expected from a 5-star hotel, this property could offer an even better experience. Nevertheless, we appreciated the great location and the dedication of the team.
For those i will rate our experience at this hotel with 3 stars.

Terrible. Practically a scam. Under the pretext of a technical problem, they wanted to move us to another facility; after complaints, they found us a room that was very small and in the basement. At that point, I accepted the other facility, which turned out to be of much lower quality. Looking on their website, I then discovered that they still claimed to have available rooms. Real scammers. Fortunately, it was only 1 night, and the rest of the vacation in Istanbul was beautiful.

Got to the hotel and there was no one to help us unload our cases so we had to fo it ourselves, meaning lugging up our 17 suitcases up the steps (there is no disabled or ramped access).
There is no door security either so you will have to dodge the people sat on the steps frequently having a smoke - hard to tell if they are guests or locals.
This hotel is run on surprisingly few staff so we had to lug our cases to our rooms ourselves. Given the lifts/elevators are tiny, this will keep you busy all evening.
The hotel is very old so the hallways are narrow and dingy, and the ceilings low.
Entering our standard rooms, we discovered there were no windows. Yes, you read it right, no windows - and we were told "most of the rooms in the hotel have no windows" (???). Not sure if that is even legal but hey ho.
You'll also often find a large jacuzzi randomly next to your bed, but I'll wager you wouldn't expect to find flies exiting the rusty jet rings, nor stained sheets, stinking duvet covers like old milk and curtains that aren't even wide enough to cover the "windows" (lighted panel). There's cracked tiles, broken fittings, not a single room was liveable.
We tried to complain to the manager and after being screamed at we were offered rooms at the sister hotel - yes the one with windows facing concrete walls, leaking ceilings and rooms barely big enough to swing your legs.
Meanwhile, back at Wyndham mansions, this review would start to resemble a 1970s horror novel when we start talking about the lobby, the breakfast, pool etc but I shall indulge the reader no longer and only ask one question - does the above, and all the other negative reviews, sound like a 5* hotel? Or even a 2* hotels.
Final point - ignore positive posts about "good location" - all city hotels in Istanbul are in a good location. Its that kind of city.
